Re: Most Influential Mages of all time??
If it didn't take skill to play than anyone that put in the time could have a high end raid guild. Since that isn't the case, it is pretty obvious that there are people more qualified to be considered the best at a class than others.

Dude your talking about a MMO, not brain surgery here.
I dont agree with the highend raid guild comment either, being in a highend raid guild does not automatically mean you are a 'ubah player'.
There are of course good players and bad players, but this complete and utter nonsense about 'the best player' or the 'muhammad ali' of mages is crap.

Re: Most Influential Mages of all time??
It sounds like someone is making excuses for their own short comings. There is, without a doubt, a level of skill involved. Otherwise, for example, every conjurer would be able to parse as high as Ishbu. It's pretty obvious there is a huge skill gap if you go from grouping with your guildies in a high end raid guild to grabbing some pick up group even for the simplest of instances. If you can't see the difference then you have never grouped with truly skilled players. I remember going from pick up raids to joining Dissolution, it was no contest. The tanks held aggro no matter what, the dps was dropping mobs like there was no tommorrow and the healers could keep everyone up with seemingly minimal effort. It's not luck or some sort of magic, it's fucking skill mixed in with some good gear. However, if skill was not involved then everyone should have the same gear if they are raiding. Because if there is no skill then all raids guilds would be equal, killing everything pretty much equally as fast. It all seems pretty obvious to me.

Re: Most Influential Mages of all time??
This is a numbers game, not an FPS.
Skill only accounts for so much. If you don't like that aspect, quit please.
What's funnier? That Kaalia lost? Or that Calaglin had to beat out a STA-spec'd Battlemage that nobody knew? Either way, everyone loses.
It's like beating up a girl;
-So you beat her up? Good job, you just beat up a girl. What are you proud for? Nobody cares.
-Oh you lost to a girl? Wow, you're a horrible excuse for a human being. -10 masculinity points.
Lose-Lose.
