I still like the assumption that FPSes are any less Mickey Mouse than MMORPGs. The FPS is even less technically valuable due to the fact that it completely revolves around settling into a groove, rather than any sort of preplanning like a MMORPG (planning gear runs and analyzing encounters, for example) or a shmup (charting out levels and planning bomb distribution, suicide, tracer control, pickups, and score chaining) requires.
Sure, there's a bit of skill involved in a FPS, but at the end of the day, what matters is how you settle in to the game (and the map itself).
