Who buys from plat farmers? - Page 6

I have a few opinions on this subject which I'm sure somebody will flame me for, but I just can't help myself... ;)

1. "have your wife do it as someone said"..

I rather someone buy some plats than have another person who doesn't even play eq2 waste their free time running around clicking on rocks repeatedly for hours on end. (Plz. ignore if your wife actually enjoys harvesting).

2. "I had to fight a bot group for those names in OOLS to get access to the second door." That is only thing that annoys me about farmers. I gave up on that access quest when my toon was low lvl many of times because farmers had repeatedly cleared all the named and I just don't have the patience to sit around waiting for respawns all day.

Coming back at lvl 70 when u can one shot the named makes it a little easier though ;).

3. "I honestly think a lot of people are predjudiced because they are chinese and speak poor or no english." Damn, I have seen more racism on eq servers than any other chat enabled game ever. Seriously... I know plat farmers might annoy the shit out of people, but ragging on them for being chinese just shows your ignorance. I've been to china twice and alot of those people live like shit and have a hard time earning a living. It's not their fault. Their government fucked them over for years when they were under Mao's rule (forced into working tracts of land with just enough payment to survive if lucky) and then all the sudden they moved to a capital drivin economy and our trying to adjust as well as possible. An average chinese citizen can live off of 100-200 US dollars a month, so you spending ten dollars for plat is a big help. Can you really blame them for farming for plat to make a living? Just a couple purchases would pay their bills all month and it sure beats being a whore, begging on the streets, or working in a factory for a fucking dollar a day. Not trying to defend plat farmers, but for fucks sake don't give them shit just because they're no from the states. Some people just want to eat and buy things like everyone else.

4. Last thing. For me personally I work alot, and when I get home I want to play the game. I don't think it's cool to buy plat all the time and twink yourself out. However, if your ass wants a mount and you've never had over 5 plat in your entire toon's life should it really matter if you pay RL money for it? That kind a shit doesnt' give you any kind of in game advantage.

I think it was me who said it; My wife used to harvest for me. She was addicted to the sound the game made when she found a rare ( I think it was like a slot machine for her). Sadly she is bored of it now... but she still does it occasionally if I am lucky.
