Who buys from plat farmers?

Just curious how many of us actually buy from the plat farmers. Someone had a good point in another thread about how they'd be out of business if no one bought from them. So who the hell is buying from them?

If i do this right, I'll be making the poll anonymous because i want answers to be as truthful as possible.

Oh yeah, and I'm only talking about this game. Don't care if you did it in diablo, or wow, or some enkimud back in the day.

I hope people answer this poll honestly, I'm curious myself just how much business they get. The question is not "if" but "how much". Obviously they get a LOT of business, because they are so damn insistent on bypassing every safeguard EQ2 employs to reach the players with their f'n spam.

I honestly don't get how they have accounts, if they can't send messages through trial of the isle, if their accounts are being banned, it means they have to get a whole new copy of EQ2 everytime they get banned, right? Wouldn't that mean they have to spend $50 to get a new code, or are they pirating (don't know if EQ2 is pirateable? I'm not up to speed on these things.) or what is the deal? Clearly they expend a lot of effort because of the high returns for them.

I think that most of the users here hate plat farmers, so I wouldn't expect many to say yes. When I am broke I talk my wife in harvesting for me in grey zones with one of my 70's

(however she won't harvest much these days). Or I go do a few instant runs and sell off the loot.

The US has cut a deal in Asia where they can obtain EQ2 buddy game account codes for $10, and in return we get affordable low quality products, egg rolls, and a Jackie Chan film every other year.

Seriously, I do believe these companies are getting cheaper accounts in a legit way. Every farmer account banned doesn't = farmer company has to buy a new $50 box at the store like you would.

I am willing to bet plat has been bought more than once because someone saw a master or raid loot on the broker, just had to have it, but didn't have the plat. They did however have real cash. It probably is this kind of person that's the most representative of their customer base. Why would a lowbie casual who plays just a few hours a week buy plat? What could they possible need? A mount and rare mastercrafted armor? I can't see many players that play EQ2 very little caring enough to spend real life cash. Likewise, why would a high end raider who gets monthly guild profit shares need the cash? They're gonna get their gear on raids. They might need to buy masters, but that's where their guild splits come in. I put more blame on the inbetweeners, but that's just an opinion not a fact.

I've seen very few people in 60-69 actually say they buy plat, although Ulutia on Nek server claimed to have bought it often and seemed proud of it (fucking bozo). Most people are smart enough to never type about it in game, and I doubt you'll see many willing to admit it on Teamspeak or Ventrilo either.

Seriously though, there must be a lot of players buying because the MMO market is saturated with "professional" farmers/sellers. Someone is buying or they wouldn't bother.

There was something I read on the other forums a while back when I still read them. One of the Devs said that most of the accounts from botters and plat spammers are obtained with fraudulent credit cards. This would be another reason I would never buy plat

Plat pharmers pay a minimal price for a new account and probably get a free initial month like everyone else. If they get banned in that month, the cost is mitigated. Another good reason to gun for the level 70's.

I honestly think the average player could care less about plat farmers. I stole Spycrachis or however you spell it from some dude grouping with a plat farmer in TT the other night. I told him I'd seen the toon he was grouping with in a clearcutting group on Gazer Isle earlier that morning. His response was basically, "Yeah, I know, but she heals well enough, and it's only grouping."

I wanted to punch him.

I gotta admit I have considered it when I've seen people selling loot rights and the prices get to 200 to 300 plat. Not to mention the rigid scale bow that i want thats sitting on the broker for 350 plat. Mocking me. I figure its gotta be very widespread. I only know of 1 person that bought plat, but he never actually admitted it to me. He just didn't deny it when someone else told me.

As for no one saying yes in the poll yet ... well give it time. This board may not be the best place for this question. I wonder if you can do polls on the sony board.

Eh, no ones gonna admit buying plat.

In all honesty I don't give a fuck about the plat farmers/sellers/buyers. The only time I was ever really pissed about a plat farmer was when they would lock those fucking doors in Obelisk of lost souls in T5 and it would block the path to Borxx.

Other then that they never get in my way, and I don't find random tells every 20-30mins annoying or a mail once in a great while that takes two seconds to delete enough to whine about it like a bitch.

People buying plat with real money doesn't change my opinion of them, if they got extra cash, shit why the hell not? I'd never buy plat just due to the fact I've all ways been lucky enough to be a natural MMO baller, and never have money issues. But I can see why they would want to buy plat. It can make your character from a piece of shit, to a beast in minutes. And that's what people want these days in the MMO world, fast and easy!
