Elania..ooo arrrrr, where's me Tractor?

So, last week I was on my zerker and headed to T.T to kill some of the big lizards that seem to like the Breeding Grounds so much. Whilst I was there I hardly did any fighting as I think I saw one of the funniest things I have come across in a long while.

During a short power break I noticed my ACT was totting up some fights near by. I then noticed it seemed to be the same name over and over. Elania. It seems Elania wanted to try and solo Spykrakis. Not a too difficult task for a 70 Conjurer. I wandered over to have a look what was going on when I saw the DPS was particulary poor in my ACT. So, I am standing on the rock looking down and watching this Conjurer battle Spykrakis. Then I noticed something odd. They weren’t sending their pet in to fight, like ever... apart from once I saw on a pull. Just rooting the mob and sending in weak DOTs. I honestly think they must have been Apprentice level skills. The pet certainly was or at most adept. Time after time Spykrakis would break free from the chains and before Elania could re cast the root spell, the big lizard was on them. I watched death after death, noting all the little tell tale signs of a proffesional farmer. Pretty much fully crafted or treasured gear. Apparently a full consignment of apprentice spells, with a ’Tellurian Champion’ tank pet at app4 level (maybe Adept, but definitely not AD3 or master), and very little knowledge of how to play the class effectively. I went to bed and left Elania to it. By the time I went I think it must have been close on to their 30th attempt (not kidding) and as I logged I caught site of Spykrakis running free once more tearing the farmer to shreds. So I decided to check the character out on EQ2 Players. The character was not guilded and was created on 2nd June 2007. A total of 49 days and 18 hours of play time in the last 120 days . That works out at average ( in fact pretty much exactly) at 10 hours per day. Every day. Final confirmation that the toon is either a bot or a farmer. I just can’t explain how funny it was watching them fight that mob over and over and over. They even pulled the mob several times right to me probably hoping to aggro me with the mobs blue AoE (do they have one?? I don’t know). Or maybe it was for help, although that cannot have been it as they constantly had the encounter locked.

One thing is for sure though, it made my night watching the countless, hapless attempts. It certainly helped pass the time whilst waiting for power to regen.

he tries like 30 times? repair cost will be more than the crap loot is worth

as for the sending the pet in and not casting too often... its to reduce the risk of breaking the the root since broken root without its recast up = guaranted death. (take the risk you pussys)

what i cant understand is why didnt that guy alter his strategy? i mean... if it doesnt work for like 30 times.. then maybe, just maybe he should have realized that he is a dumb ass bitch that cant solo for shit..

i saw a conj doing the exact same thing today in MMC. dumb bitch decided to steal a named off me and i watched for a bit to see what he did before using my lvl 2 DWs to break his root and watch it pwn face. turns out it isnt uncommon to see a farmer who is rolling necro tap their pet for hp/power since their gear sucks balls and they using apprentice spells.

and btw for those who skimmed my post, i just posted possibly the easiest way to pwn a farmer who didnt lock encounter. get a low level weapon (Ranged prefered, mobs will attack you if they are rooted and you are the nearest target) with a short delay and ping away. mob will break root rather quickly and go straight for the farmer since you probably didnt do much if any damage to gain hate over them

You know I was thinking that. I kept inspecting them fairly regularly and never noticed their equipment to have an orange background saying it was nearly broken. Guess they either stopped at the mender at the refuge or had repair kits.

The pet was only sent in a couple of times (on the screenies I think most of them show the pet just sitting there next to him). At one point they sent the pet in..but before Spykrakis could kill the pet...Elania destroyed it herself!!??!!

Faxon I like your low damage ranged root breaker idea..really wish I had given that a go. Having said that, the pathetic excuse for a Conjy was making a big enough mess of it without my help. Good info though, gotta try that one out

Well with a name like Elania that it's not a bot. Maybe it's just someone that doesn't have all the money in the world to buy things.

But 10 hours a day is easy....being unemployed and bored...it's easy to rack up 12+ hours a day on EQ2.

a bot? nah.. just a completly retarded wanna be leet farmer...

that one named which only rarely drops a master (and the legen item being lore) doesnt justify the hassle of configuring a bot...

I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt and actually considered this. But...the reason i went with the 'nah, gotta be a proff farmer of some sort', is that those 10 hours a day would have to be EVERY day..for 120 days. So if you consider that it wasn't a toon that got handed round a bunch of ********s or something..then surely...if you spent 10 hours every day on a toon for 120 days...you would be quite a lot better at playing your class. well that's the conclusion I came to.

maybe they never logout until servers come down after they log in?

i use to know a paly that never loged out just to get his play time up

I normally leave my chars logged-in all day while I'm at work. Kinda like a glorified answering machine. Plus it spares me the pause of logging back in when I'm in a rush to get home. It helps when the electric bill is included in the flat price of rent.
