These spamming fuck tards are back, they've hit almost every category. In my honest opinion it's time to fight fire with fire. I think (and all fan / guild sites) out there should redirect your websites 403 traffic to their website and clog their site with their own with junk traffic. I am sure by now these sites have collected tons of ban able ip's to redirect the traffic. LFG I have another suggestion can you set up a an extra captcha script on the sign up to have an extra layer to stop the automated spam bots? I am not exactly sure how to do this, but I know it's possible. for a site I manage I used .htaccsess/.htpassword to set up a pop up window with instructions on how to continue.

They are not automated spam bots doing this, it's live human beings that make the equivalent of about $200 a month US in China, IMO.

We added a math problem on top of our captcha registration requirement, and we are still getting the bogus registration and spam problems. There is no way a bot is coming up with the correct answer to arithmetic problems, it's a live human being.

I can't stop that unless I make it so nobody can post after they register until their first posts are screened by a mod. That would stick a knife in the heart of this site, IMO.

Today's gold spammer was the worst we ever had. Fucker spammed 30 threads. The good news is, I can delete all that shit with two mouse clicks now. But I gotta sleep, and have no idea how long that shit was up before I woke up. These guys are doing this early morning hours US now.

I agree some type of retaliation is in order. Today's spam was displayed on almost every forum section. This shit is way out of line and I'd ask all users to retaliate against gold spammer sites that spam here, using only legal means of course. We need to make them clearly understand that it is NOT ok to spam EQ2Flames.com.

I agree totally. It would be a headache for you and the mods it would probably push newer users away from posting. Honestly, one of the reasons I love this site because the moderators are transparent here (they are nothing near at all the stick up the ass, know it all, do it my way, bullshit spewing cops you find on the official forums.) and you all do a good job keeping the site clean of spammers and blunders like my accidental double post.

In my mind it was a brute force attack on this site. I would hope that 99% of the users here would never buy platinum so the spam is wasted on the users here, but it is messy and doesn't belong here.

I am sure you have the person's IP range from where they posted to at least ban creating another account them from doing so again. If you are on a Unix server and have access to your root .htaccess you can 403 their range and re-direct them to another server, but I bet they used an annon proxy to post with.

That two click delete button, how hard is it to give that function to someone else? I saw it up quite early on, and remember thinking you'd be pretty pissed off when you saw it.

I'm not suggesting you give that ability to me since I'm pretty new to the site and technically challenged, but would it be possible to get some more suitable Euro on board to help you?
