What I dont understand is how hard would it be for SOE to do the following:

Whenever someone sends a tell that gets flagged as spam (ie [Spam] tell from aldfkjla) start a counter.

If counter reaches, say 10, in 5 mins, then suspend the account.

Legit users would be able to get their accounts reinstated pretty quick, but how many would be legit? not many i suspect...

What does that have anything to do with farmers? Your post has everything to do with spammers, not farmers which this thread is about.

True. I'm so sorry for understanding cause and effect.

I naturally assumed that at some point they would want to promote the gold that they got from selling this stuff on the broker.

Well if SOE was smart, they would look at the logs of these toons, see that they are hacking, and ban the account. But they too busy i guess lol

Or when someone petitions, at least have a GM check it out, instead of sending these crap emails back that are totally copy and pasted

Hand them to a legit account and you just get em both banned. I like that plan. Makes me wonder how they launder plat. They must do something. Surely when SOE bans a farmer, they look through logs and try to find the mule too.

Wait, sorry bout that. I keep getting caught up in the excitement of the hunt and forget that SOE doesn't have a problem with them except when whiney-assted players report them.

I mean, from a business standpoint, the 50 farmers illuminator got banned last week were 50 paying accounts who bought 50 copies of the game. I maintain that when the farmers start using cracked copies of the games and cheat soe out of the subscription fees ... then we'll see a crackdown.

This is actually a bug they're exploiting, not really a hack (unless there's a hack that does the same thing). My brother just started playing the game and we were talking on vent when he told me he logged in and was suddenly going SUPER fast. Like 1000% run speed. Everything else was speeded up too. He harvested in like .1 second and if he fought anything, both his and the mob's attacks happened super fast. He also couldn't send tells because it would cause each key stroke to seem like he was holding down the key. He tried running around like that for a while and I told him he better just relog and see if it fixed it before someone saw him and thought he was speed hacking, then do a /bug report. Relogging fixed it, but he had the same thing happen one more time after. We never did figure out what was causing it.

In any case, it's clear the farmers have figured out how to reproduce this bug (it seemed totally random in my brother's case), or they found some hack that reproduces it. Hopefully SOE gets off their ass and fixes this.

This isn't limited to lowbie dirges anymore. While idling in QH I saw a level 68 wizard pharmer dart past me like a bat outta hell. This will grow extremely disruptive if left unchecked.
