Nah, I truly appreciate the advice, but when I am playing my toon I don't tradeskill. I make my money by selling, on the broker, everything I harvest and loot. I get by fine that way and can just go and kill, kill, kill when the mood strikes. I hate grouping and raiding and only do it when my guild really needs me. I love going solo and doing my own thing my own way. Don't worry, I really am NOT a farmer, I have a last name, worship a deity, play with an active guild, 6-7 alts, etc. Reading these posts sure has been educational.

Here is why you don't buy plat. About a month ago some chinese hacker downloaded a virus onto several websites to include guildportal. When players would log on the virus would get the ID and PW. Now that is that bad since most of us don't use the same login and pw for our EQ2 accounts but some were not so smart. A guildie(a not so smart computer guy) did have the same. He went away to see his brother in the hospital for a month. Just before he came back home his toon logs in quites the guilld, after a visit to the guild bank(did not have access to the good shit). Then immediately goes to merchant sells all his gear and anyhting else that can be sold. Then proceeds to speed hack his way through Kylong plains. The whole time our guild is cussing this guy out in chinese. Eventually a GM blocks the account. But in that time this hacker/palt farmer harvested almost a hundred plat worth of rares. The next day we find out that another guild on another server had half the toons in their guild hacked. All by plat farmers. Everything these people accrued over years of play was gone in a matter of minutes. All for people like you to buy and be selfish. So in essence you are the thief that stole his account sold all his gear and work that he had done to make his toon enjoyable, you stole from him. Oh and by the way it could happen to you and your friends because you wanted to buy plat.

You know you didn't have to be an asshole and start accusing me of being the cause of your friends problems. I asked because I truly wanted to understand. Any of the these idiots ever hear of firewalls, virus blocking ware, etc. YES I know everyday there are new and improved viruses that get through these programs but come on, that is ALWAYS the risk you take when entering the internet. I understand now how, despite your drama, they operate. And yes, if any of that happened to me or my game friends I would be upset too. Gee, what kind of guild do you belong to? If something like that happened to me my guildies would be the first ones to question the situation and report it to the GMs immediately. Then they would go out of their way to help me recover in any way they could. I feel really sorry for your friend and what happened to him, but more sorry for you and your guild members.

and BTW, the "selfish" decorating I've done for people has been at little or no cost to them. I spend my OWN HARD EARNED MONEY, so fuck you! I have literally spend hundreds of RL dollars to give people a place in the game they can go to and relax, smile and be proud. Gee, maybe you need a few friends that are that selfish?

Now see you aaumed that we did nothing. As I said we we had it reported but GM response took about 5 hours befoer they blocked the account. When he returned home and was able to log on he had to change the login and PW. Unbeknownest to him they also changed the email address on his account to forward to their email so they got the updated Login and PW when it changed. We had given him plat and temp gear to get him by til everything was straightened out but that was sold again when they hacked it again. Now the selfish part, yes you are selfish. You thought of only buying plat without realizing the ramifications of your actions. Even now you say well I made people in MY guild happy, I used MY hard earned money, so I can do what I want. Wasn't trying to be an asshole just enlighten you as to why they(plat farmers) are the scum of the earth and should not be dealt with. Also in rl if you recieve stolen goods even tho you did not know it was stolen, you are still held accountable. Now i ask you not to support this system that you so innocently supported, but now know the ramifications of your actions and the levels at which these bastards will go to get plat for you. The guy that this was done to supports himself on a VERY modest living and is disabled, this game is his only form of enjoyment. So for him he cannot recover so easily as someone that can afford to buy plat. And yes we tore him a new asshole for not using programs that would have prevented all this. But it happened to others that did have all those programs so it could happen to anyone.

Spending your RL money on third party plat selling sites to decorate the useless rooms of friends, while compromising your own account?
Knowing about eq2flames, and this section of the forums, but not knowing that RMT for plat is against the rules?
Not knowing how farmers screw up the game, from questing (obliesk door access quests to name a few), to harvesting (the way they'd monopolize whole islands in KoS), to killing named for masters and loot as soon as the mobs spawn, to the economy, and all that damn spam (how much dev time is spent on that shit that could have been fixing the game)?
