I already deleted another link to this article. There was more than one reason I deleted it previously.

I realize you didn't mean any harm, but the blog you linked includes numerous links to gold selling websites. Gold sellers have spammed that blog with responses that directly link their websites.

The article is somewhat interesting, but it has also devolved into a collection of links to gold sellers and the secondary MMO market.

I've applied to Sigil for affiliate fansite status for vgflames.com. Sigil has very firm policies against sites that have any affiliation to the secondary MMO market. For this reason, Sigil will not have anything to do with Ogaming/Zam networks, which is owned by the same entity that owns IGE. I applaud Sigil for that, it's putting their money where their mouth is.

Sigil requires all sites with a common owner to follow its rules about not directly or indirectly linking to gold seller and other secondary MMO market websites.

I wouldn't do it anyway, but Sigil's policy obviously means I can't accept ads from gold sellers on this site. It also means I can't indirectly help promote gold sellers by linking to pages such as the one you linked, because that page contains numerous links to gold seller sites.

I hope you understand, and don't think I'm being too extreme. But this really involves a simple choice: (a) be an underground site and exist by word of mouth alone, or (b) get linked by Sigil on it's fansite page, and possibly affiliate status, by respecting its rules about not posting porn, linking to porn, directly linking to the secondary MMO market, or linking to pages that are little more than a collection of links to the secondary MMO market.

Sigil's rules don't require a bad words filter and other things that wouldn't work on this site. The only thing I'm censoring here is the ability to post links that directly or indirectly link to the secondary MMO market.

I read the article and it was mostly historical information about plat sellers in EQ, which is fine, except for the numerous links to gold seller sites on the same page.

Not sure if someone would want to go to the effort of posting the information without the links here, but I have no objection to that.

Really sorry for getting this technical about this stuff. You can really post anything you want that doesn't directly link to a gold seller or a page with gold seller links. Information about the gold seller industry is perfectly fine. The goal is not to provide someone with a link they can use to purchase gold, or to advertise for any gold selling site with a link.

I post these long winded explanations to help people understand what they can do here, not just in this one case, but in all future cases as well.

No apology needed, I think the majority of us here feel the same about gold selling/purchasing. It's really nice to be able to enjoy a non-official site and not have gold adds all over. I appreciate the effort you put into it.
