I always assumed farmers used translation programs, but this might not be the case.

I caught one duo farming in Mystic Lake. My friends and I were about to do the Zan Fi trial thingy and the ring event named statues were up right outside. While we were forming up, the little bastard had cleared all the trash to activate the names except one set and was patiently waiting for like 15 mins for us to fuck off or kill the last set so he could pull the names out from under us. So we obliged, but had our fury set off his fire carpet under the yet-to-activate names so they were 100% sure to aggro us first.

I linked him the ornate chest junk that dropped and told him "cao ni ma" (fuck your mom). The following conversation ensued:



So apparently he sucks at English all by himself. (And believes people can be born without mothers, even if it's a bit more difficult.)

And then I got his ass banned the next day. Yummy.

So I was browsing the Wikipedia Mandarin slang entry linked in another thread and just happened to find where dear Choscoosku went wrong. He was trying to translate the phrase "gàn nǐ mā," which is like "cào nǐ mā," and means "fuck your mom." Only problem is, in Mainland China, they went around simplifying the writing system a while back and just happened to simplfy two slightly different verbs into the same written character so "gàn" meaning "to do" (slang for "to fuck") and "gān" meaning "to dry" look exactly the same.

For the curious, the simplified character looks like this: 干
The traditional version of "to dry" (gān) looks like this: 乾
And the traditional version of "to do" (gàn) looks like this: 幹

At the rate these guys get burned, it's beyond me why they can't spend a few minutes looking up real English slang. But I'm kind of glad they don't cuz it's way more fun when they get things horribly wrong.

The first post was funny, Tracheaspiders, I dunno, it just made me sad. I don't mind picking on the guys, but just feel that was a lil mean. Of course, I don't know what went on before the conversation so who knows, maybe he deserved it. I just thought it was tantamount to picking on the foreign exchange student just because.
