It's obvious they speak English as a second language, but they are pretty decent people and have tried to help out where possible.

That being said, players like the two in my guild most certainly seem to be the exception to the rule.
Please ask them to register on this site. I'm very curious about whether they play from within Mainland China (it would resolve to .CN) rather than Taiwan or Hong Kong. My main point here is that people from several different nations may refer to themselves as "Chinese", this blockage is only being considered against traffic from Mainland China, and not other Asian nations or people who consider themselves Chinese based on a Chinese heritage or ancestry.

I believe greater than >95% of users from Mainland China only access EQ2 for reasons related to the illicit MMO aftermarket (plat sellers and in-game farmers and spammers).

All please note: blocking .CN traffic would not block traffic from any other Asian nation, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, etc. This move would only block Internet traffic from a nation where an EQ2 subscription would cost up to one week's pay for an average user. Please understand the difference between .CN traffic and other Asian traffic before you call me a racist or tell me I'm wrong about what I've posted above.

Thank you

Just do it and see who bitches

So I guess what we have here is the philisophical question of 99 guilty men go free or 1 innocent man goes to jail? You could/would/have said "prove to me that there is at least one innocent man here." Kind funny but *.cn = Sodom and Gomorrah. Heh.

If we were dealing with prison I might see your point, but we're not. This is a website. The difference between the importance of the two is vast, and should be recognizable to anyone.

While it would suck for those from China who play legitimately, if you can maybe put a nicely-worded explination in English that simply says "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we have deemed that the harassment of this site from IP's resolving from your country of residence has gotten to the point that we must prevent all further access to this site." or something like that.... I mean what else can you do? Its the Internet, there are thousands of other forums they can view, or make their own Chinese forum if they want.

And its not like you're saying all Chinese players are farmers. Just that nearly all of the traffic originating from .cn turns out to be plat spam.

We block all internet traffic from china where I work, it started with just blocking all email from there, but now it is a full blow firewalling...we never had any legitimate traffic from there, and just fraud attempts and spam..

If you dont have legitimate traffic here, by all means.. firewall em.. its not racist to protect your server from problems by such means... especially if you pay for your bandwidth.

no issue i see. just have it redirect to a webpage stating why they are seeing it (preferably in mandarin chinese if possible), and that if they ARE in fact a legitimate player, to contact you via email or some other means so they can prove it. as for seeing legit players around, the only "legit players" i have seen in the end turned out to be farmers playing someones toon as a power leveling service. some of them were pretty good players as well (chinese power leveler solo healed HoF back in kos when i was still wearing 2 peices of xego, had 6200 hp, and bout 4k mitigation), but in the end it ammounts to more harm than good just letting them roam free

IMHO...

Block them. Period.

If someone has reason to come here (that is, who comes here to read the forums and post responses, etc), and is from Mainland China, then they'll just have to PM you or have some form to fill out stating that if you do try to sell anything that you will turn them in or whatnot.

If they don't like it...
