Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
Great post... i have been reporting them the same way, and it does work. I have a running list of botters I have reported on my guild forums (they never tell you what action they take, but if you look the character up they are no longer playing if you report them right). Usually I kill them a few times first though by training mobs to them with my bruiser... just for my own personal satifaction.
Thanks for taking the time and spelling it out for everyone... I hate those fucking parisites

Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
You mentioned a gemometric exploit to farm nameds. Can you explain what this is and what it looks like?

Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
Oh shit I totally overlooked that. That's how necros grind so fast... they AFK and then set their pet to attack when attacked! Remember when they had regular melee automatically disengage upon end-of-combat to stop this? They may have to do the same for the pet reaction, no?

I'm not going to give in-depth info on how to exploit the geometry. But if you see someone standing half behind something while they're casting and they aren't taking damage even though the mob is a caster type or should otherwise be able to hit them, they're exploiting.
Not sure what SOE's take is on getting out of line of sight between casts, but if they're out of line of sight during casting, it's for sure exploiting.

Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
You may not decrypt or modify any data transmitted between client and server and you may not use, post, host or distribute macros, “bots” or other programs which would allow unattended game play or which otherwise impact game play.
Unattended gameplay itself doesn't seem to be explicitly against the EULA when only done using the game client legitimately but I seriously doubt any dev would call it anything other than an XP loophole.

Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
The Eula may leave the fine print a little ambiguous, however AFK killing is still against the Rules of Conduct for the game.
A search for Unattended Gameplay in the Knowledge Base clarifies this:
Question:
"Is it OK to allow my pet to kill wandering mobs while I am AFK?"
Answer:
"No. By taking advantage of (or exploiting) a game mechanic to advance a character with no input by the player, you are gaining an unfair advantage over others and are in violation of SOE Policies. Gaining experience while you are not at the keyboard is not intended gameplay and can result in disciplinary action taken upon your account. Disciplinary action for unattended game play can include, but is not limited to; account warning, account suspension, and permanent account cancellation (ban). If you are playing a pet class and need to go AFK for an extended period of time (i.e. longer than a few moments), please make sure you are in a safe area away from where agro mobs wander or spawn."
It's followed up by this quote from rules of conduct: - 12. You will not exploit any bug in EverQuest II and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in game), either directly or through public posting, to any other user of EverQuest II. You will promptly report any such bug via the in-game "/bug" command. You may also report any such bugs/exploits by submitting a customer service help ticket through our in-game petition process.
So yes, warn your friend. If someone gets pissy and reports him, he's fooked.

Re: Guide to Getting Farmers Banned
I find this to be an interesting topic.
Is this stating that if you leave your pet option to defend itself and yourself on you are in violation b/c you are not actively playing the account?
B/c then I would see that people autofollowing in groups over a certain amount of time as breaking the EULA as well as people 3 or 4 boxing breaking the same terms of service. This would be b/c they really arent always actively playing the account. You are always at any given time AFK from an account whether its auto-attacking with a swash or letting a regen tick or whatever.
