The Bonemire Named Pharming Racket

Last night I get sent a tell,

(1158706981)[Tue Sep 19 19:03:01 2006] \aPC -1 Paune:Paune\/a tells you,"My guild were closed by the host of the game.."

And so it was that "Amuse the city" on Antonia Bayle and "Extinction" on Blackburrow were closed down by the GM's and all members evicted. For those who don't know, these were part of a Chinese plat farming racket where one guild on each server had one or two level capped wizards and several level 1-2 alts, all with leadership rank. The wizards would farm the Bonemire heroic nameds almost 24-7 and keep the proceeds from selling masters and rares in the guild bank until someone wished to buy plat. And the level 1 alts were actually the alts from the farmer wizards on the other servers, intended to clear out the guild bank and run if the wizards in the guild got banned for any reason. Yes they are all Chinese, and all use a mix of English and Pinyin depending on the situation.

You learn a lot when you play this game while unemployed for months.

But here we go again, same damn thing, all of it happening in the last 24 hours. Maeca and Paune start a new guild called "Named x" and it has them and four (4) level one alts.

Leader Athoel Monk (1)
Leader Nizaepeag Monk (1)
Senior Member Paune Wizard (70)
Senior Member Maeca Wizard (70)
Recruit Geoskoc Warden (1)
Recruit Ocouhu Conjuror (1)

And now, rather than themselves, they made two of the level 1 alts the leaders instead. Is this for liability reasons if the GM comes knocking? But the pattern continues everywhere now. The plat farming wizards are now Senior Members while obscure level 1 alts are the leaders. And when the wizards have alts, they are added as links in each others' guilds with the Recruit rank.

Look at Athoel's alts:

Koamia, lvl2 mystic, Dark of empire, Guk
Toigia, lvl2 illusionist, Amuse the City, Oasis
Dihi, lvl1 troubador, Apollo, Blackburrow
Athoel, lvl1 monk, Named x, Antonia Bayle
Etome, lvl1 bruiser, Bright alliance, Runnyeye

You can see they are abstracting the guild links even more now. Rather than make the level-capped wizards join their level 1 alts to exclusively secure each others' guild banks, they're making dedicated accounts containing the alts that draw zero attention. It would seem that last night gave them a good scare. Yes most of the plat farming money is kept in the guild bank; I was told this directly.

There are many more guilds and characters following this same exact pattern, and the same links are reestablished, and business contiues.

My conclusion?

Disband these 8 guilds, because they are all part of the same racket and woven in the same web:

"Amuse the City" on Oasis
"Apollo" on Blackburrow
"Bright alliance" on Runnyeye
"Dark of empire" on Guk
"Flame" on The Bazaar
"Hand of Balance" on Kithicor
"Named x" on Antonia Bayle
"Plmm Come To Me" on Splitpaw

Ban these 3 guild link accounts:

Koamia/Toigia/Dihi/Athoel/Etome
Esinia/Aghupi/Nizaepeag/Cediohoin/Oanauvia/Grooj
Funia/Kklkk/Ahic/Pohaon/Gannipigu/Ocouhu

And ban these character accounts forever:

Maeca and Paune on Antonia Bayle
Socof and Juan on Blackburrow
Jurabe, Vampkiss, and Adeekia on Guk
Huyum and Beec on Oasis
Kowug on Runnyeye
Sceemiy on Kithicor
Hain and Funia on Splitpaw
Strooh on The Bazaar

And /petition as many times as humanly possible to get this done. If you've read this far, you are awesome.

good research, actually very interesting.

Chinese plat farmers do get somewhat of an overhyped rep though. I've talked to a few and they were actually really nice people. Not to say they are obeying the EULA, but some of the criticism i see in public channels leans more on the side of racism

i got all of my non guild rares in t6 from platfarmers just because of the fact they were cheaper and understood supply and demand, same reason that they all now sell t2-5 raws at a fair amount more than they maybe should be, but they keep prices stable so of course im not a fan of botters, but if they want to farm and keep prices stable all the power to them

Maeca and Paune on AB, and Socof on Blackburrow appear to have been banned Saturday-ish. Their broker listings were cleared and they never logged in again.
