Right now when you purchase an account, you get 30 free days. There should be tighter throttling until the account makes its first subscription payment.

Game Developers have to be serious when it comes to this stuff and while SoE does implement some things I get the feeling they aren't as tough as they could or should be.

They definately are not as tough as they could and should be.. I figure it is because they are scared of negative publicity if they ban someone wrongly... people tend to go whacko on the forums and ballistic at the slightest provocation...

I identified one of the newer advertised plat selling companies as being in the US, and PM'd the dev leading the programming of the filter with the info... gonna see if they actually act on it.. or wait til their lawyers and accountants say they can.

the PayPal angle I suggested could be a big coup for them.. and improve their subscription base since you can get a paypal account without a credit card.. and can use it with more privacy..

I've said this before, but I haven't seen anything to make me change this position. I believe SOE is in bed with the plat farmers. It may not be an open partnership, but there is no doubt they allow the plat farmers to exist. My best guess is that they are unwilling to give up the the revenue these guys produce by buying the games and 1 months subscription. Again, this is still speculation, but I'd be willing to bet the reason there are only a few that are continually operating is because they are probably the few who keep paying soe instead of cracking/stealing the CD keys. In essence, each CD they have to buy is a kickback to soe to keep looking the other way. I wonder what percentage of game sales go to plat farmers.

I'm sad to say that I agree with alot of what you say. It doesn't take a brain-surgeon to spot these idiots, but apparently does take one to do anything about it (metaphorically speaking).

The tells are still very much active on Splitpaw, from users such as Sytepybhgf and the like.
