Standard disclaimers apply and need to be repeated often: the strength of this site is its freedom and therefore its monopoly. The SOE Watchful Eye is irrelevant. It's nice at times, but irrelevant. We didn't have to go to them, they knew to come to us.

Nobody has any less an opportunity now to discuss any viewpoint than they did when the site started. Some who left here had real life obligations, and some had their hand on the stove for too long and got burnt or endangered by the drama (though they'll be slow to admit it). But they'll all be back. There's nowhere else to go. There isn't much forgiveness here, but forgetfulness and opportunism fill the rift.

Does anyone remember why eq2flames was created?
Does anyone remember the first few weeks / months and the general tone?

For those people who answered yes, compare it to now - any difference?

The people who post nothing but fucking stupid ass craptastic happy, trolling shit - would have gotten eaten alive back then. The site was different then, and while I can't blame LFG for trying to make it something different, it was a place where if you posted dumb fucking shit you would have got called on it, and laughed off the site.

That isn't saying posts from the ex-NGD people fall into this category - but there sure is a lot of dumb fucking shit on this site now - this site shouldn't be a repository for dumb shit that can't make it on the official forums, nor should fucking n00b people who have no fucking clue how to play the game be the norm either.

Nor should people sell themselves out, and totally change the way they are in order to gain acceptance with Sony.
