I said it before you, I said it the entire time I was an EQ2 mod. I realize I should never have that sort of power, but if LFG decided to give it to me, do you think I'd like what, ban Elanie with it to give you a stiffy?

No, of course not. I'd rid EQ2Flames of dripping cunt sores like Bitmap and the aforementioned circus of no talent.

How many more times are you going to say I never was? I mean LFG only listed my post as the birth of EQ2Flames sir. Kind of hard to do that as a never was

As for being popular, of course I'm popular, like omg.

More moderation makes me sad. I can get all the moderation I need in other places. I come here for the other side of that coin.

Have to agree that more moderation would be bad.. Have recently started reading/posting here due to the better design and the community (good or bad) being more open/free. Been lurking and started posting because in the time I've been visiting the site, I've seen very little that bothered me, so I'm inclined to say the current level of moderation is good as is.

Someone mentioned it before but can we get a option that says something like "Yes we need more moderation as far as enforcing the already existing site rules?"

I voted no, but did so with a little trepidation.

Without making this a "them vs. us" thread(s), I'd say there are valid points from all around. Alaina has a point that the amount of spam has increased. This is a big no duh! because of the growth of the site. But the fact remains that spam has increased. No amount of personal attacks on her is going to change that.

LFG has said there are always a post or two here and there in every thread where things get temporarily derailed for some humor or tangential discussion. A few haha's later, things are back to normal. It just seems there are people that are cruising the forums looking for threads without these posts and taking the liberty of adding them from left field, then they leave the thread -or do the happy dance once the derailment is terminal to the thread. Kind of like a drive-by spamming. Moderation is the typical way to manage this stuff, but it is a paradox for this site. Self government and vigilante moderation used to be effective, but gangs and factions have formed, leaving any attempt to accomplish said self moderation just devolves into 10 pages of lame random personal attacks. The result is the creation of even MORE useless spam. The effect just snowballs.

Again, I am against formal moderation, but self moderation is obviously less effective with the increased user base. Could the solution be as simple as a reiteration by LFG to everyone to control the amount of spam they generate? Maybe. Or perhaps the site is once again at one of those evolutionary crossroads where some form of mild moderation is necessary? I hope not, but that is purely in the hands of each member posting whatever it is they are posting.

In the end, I would hate to see this cause a large scale polarization of the site, leading to some sort of drawn out battle of "to spam or not to spam". Sure people come and go, but this would be a bummer reason of why they go.

I find it fascinating how the majority prefer how this site was 6 months ago, but wouldn't even consider "a little more" moderation to try to change things.
It's interesting.

I guess there will just continue to be pissing and moaning about the new guard in hopes that maybe they will all just go away, or at least stick to the lower half of the forums or w/e.
Then again, all the old school members could just not rise to the bait of the pvp/ngd crowd when they do pop into one of the "super serious threads".

Besides, as its been stated several times now, all of you who take your raiding, game play and forum posting all serious and shit will have all kinds of new material to chew through soon. And it might even slow the spammers down for a couple months until you've beaten all the new stuff and have nothing to talk about anymore.

And the cycle will start all over again.

I've always thought that derailments of threads was more or less natural progression. A thread gets boring, people run out of things to say, so it goes places that it probably shouldn't.

If posters ignore random off topic comments, then they aren't really a problem. In everyday conversations with my own RL friends, random remarks happen in the convo flow. We don't all tell each other to STFU and stay on topic, we either address it or we don't.

Stop with the sense-making. Its making the brain hurt. People able to think for themselves? Not being told what to look at and what not to look at? What is that idea? You're nuts.

Just reduce the spam in the combat/general feedback forums.
The actual feedback forums needs to have the SPAM enforced. Maybe that includes limiting repeat offenders from posting in these forums.

The class forums are already moderated extensively
The server forums are pretty much minor moderation
And the flame forums and free for all.

I voted for increased moderation on the forums designed FOR NO SPAM and for informational purposes.
