Default The need for a General Discussion section

I think this site needs a general discussion section in the General EQ2 forum. I noticed a bunch of topics got moved out of the General EQ2 Discussion section and theres a bunch more that could be moved. The Everything Else of Everything Else section works I guess, but its so far down out of the main area I hardly ever go there myself.

This section would be where Contests are posted, site discussions such as moderation, and other general topics that seem to get a lot of traffic, but cant really be considered EQ2 discussion. With RoK coming up it would free up the General EQ2 discussion section for actual EQ2 discussion as well as making it so admin doesnt have to move so many topics around. LFG says he moves several topics a day out of that section and most of the time from what Ive seen the place they get moved to doesnt really fit the discussion. IE recently Anarke's post was moved to the Bazaar section, ya hes originally from Bazaar, but a lot of his friends he was giving a shout out to aren't from Bazaar. Id of never seen that post if it had been put in the Bazaar section to begin with because I have zero reason to be on their forum.

So thats my request: a General Discussion forum up in the main sections for non gameplay discussion where important discussions about EQ2flames and stuff can be held without cluttering up the Gameplay sections.

In my many (more than needs to ever be disclosed) year of running websites, its been a long known fact that people don't scroll. Its why ads always go at the top of a page.

Adding a general forum at the top, I think would alleviate some of the non-sense that end up in some of the upper "serious" forums, and alert people to the fact that there is an off-topic area.

Also, I'd like to add that while I don't feel the site needs more overall moderation, moving threads is not a big deal no matter which way you slice it. Perhaps if LFG and Niber cannot keep up with thread moving, they can enlist in a pal that can be the designated thread mover.

I like the idea. Are you saying we should move the "Everything Else" section to the top, or leave that as a NGD-style section where it is, and make new a "serious" no-spam and non-trolling General Discussion section at the top?

Leave General eq2 discussion, and add a Strictly Speaking On-Topic Discussion forum - No Faabio allowed. ;) General EQ2 fluff will have a place up top and the grown ups will have heavily moderated, by the book forum.

What do you think of this:

I kill this "Admin Requests etc" section, create a new "Serious General Discussion" section up top, and move all the existing posts in this section up there?

I like the idea of keeping the "Everything Else" section as it is down here - which is pretty much a NGD-style FFA section with reasonable, non-retarded spamming and trolling permitted. But with a new "General Discussion" section up top, we really wouldn't need this "Admin" section any more at all.

It seems that raiders like to be segregated from NGD people. So a general discussion section for each seems like a good idea to me.

What do you think?

That doesn't exactly work for me though...

I'm pretty much a 'hardcore' raider, 'hardcore pvp'r', and 'hardcore' NGD'r (I don't really agree with this one, but I've been told it's true, I stay rather relevant to the course of the thread, so fuck you guys imo!)

I'm an all around poster, no section isn't where I shouldn't be

I don't see a need for change, but I'm not the one moving threads. General EQ2 discussion has worked fine so far. I would say move everything else to the top area. I like the purpose of the admin request and feedback forum.

Everyone will have to promise to be really good in the super serious forum else LFG will be handing out spankins!

It'll give you a chance to show off the brilliance that I know you have Faabio.
