Default eq2flames devtracker RSS?

Could we get an RSS feed for the eq2flames devtracker? It seems the problem is that this isn't really a forum, it's a "search", and the search page doesn't allow RSS output with type=RSS2.

There would be a ton of noise if you couldn't filter the forum types.

Definitely possible, but I'm not going to code it.

Two reasons why:

1. It reduces advertising revenue and traffic to the site.
2. It would require custom coding.

I did do a similar project a few months back with a perl script that would rip the html off EQ2players and then parse it into an RSS feed. The same could be reworked to parse EQ2Flames. If you're interested in seeing that code I will share it but it would take a major rework to make it functional.

I understand the too much work part, it's not like you're getting paid! But as for the revenue part, I think it would drive MORE traffic to the site. I know I always click on the articles in the current RSS feeds to see there responses to the dev post, etc.

Besides, we have RSS feeds for stuff now. What's the difference, revenue wise?

You don't have to click the articles in an RSS feed, thus no ads, and then no revenue.

I skimmed past the word devtracker. My bad.

Good news Illuminator, there already is an RSS for EQ2Flames, and every subsection of the forums.

I don't believe that to be the case. It is my estimation a majority of casual EQ2Flames members check in, click the tracker, browse the general forums and leave -- sometimes finding no topics of interest. Adding a developer RSS feed would negate this type of casual browsing if the only time they visited is when they saw a topic of interest.

Would the decrease in revenue be substantial? Doubtful. But our revenue is so poor that I'm not inclined to put in free man hours to take money from the site.

That said, if anyone else wants to do it. Go for it.
