they have the choice of keeping their identity to themselves.

if they choose to share that with players, then it will be known and it will be spread. whether here on flames, or by moving through private circles in game.

you always have the option of not telling people. when you do, you have to deal with the consequences.

In the thread that had the post stating a devs name, toon name, and guild... was posted to stir drama... that dev really had nothing to do with the post or the content of the post.. ( was about avatars depopping.. whoopty doo) the person who had their post deleted mentioned something about " you want drama heres drama.." and posted the devs info. I think it was bullshit.

If you were a cook in a classy restraunt.. worked hard and gave it your all and were really passionate about your work no matter what your critics said.. then had to come home to cook your own dinner for your friends and family and got the same bs remarks and criticism you did all day.. it would fucking suck wouldnt it? Devs playing the game... might just like playing the game just like most of us.. give them their space ffs.

i will absolutely grant you that it was out of context in the thread.
however, if they want to avoid the attention, all they have to do is keep the info to themselves.

Hmmm, some aspect's I am on the fence on this, however, I do think that they will be found out by people no matter what. But, they do deserve some peace and quiet when in game not getting tons of tells telling them they fucked up, etc, etc.

I am in support of not outing a dev on flames. I do however think that if someone outs a dev, then some sort of private mediation between LFG and said dev, and player needs to take place before any sort of punishment is dealt.

Being able to fully acess a script, read it out in vent, and tell your guild how to kill something isn't going to risk your job.

Robin Williams played DAoC for over 2 years before he accidently outted himself.

If a dev wants to play there is nothing wrong with it. If any person wants anonymity that too is perfectly fine. If a dev is feeding their guild thats entirely different and unethical.

More to the point though. This is LFG's house, if you dont like it you can get the fuck out.

If LFG tommarow says no more swearing, then so be it. LFG knows why this board is 2x more popular then the SOE boards and knows that things can help or be detrimental to its longevity.

The defence of someone, anyone, who identifies themselves then expects that identity/knowledge to dissappear or not have negatives is retarded. A symptom all too common in this world. Cannot have your Kate and Edith too.

Yes, correct. I'm sure the powers at be don't watch the guilds that are known to raid bleeding edge and have devs in them. They probably just turn a blind eye to that fact and let them romp unrestrained through cheater heaven.

I also think its lame to imply that because a dev raids he cheats. Just because it's something you would do if in that position doesn't mean everyone thinks like you do. Benefit of the doubt much? Oh wait, they're obviously doing something because they WW1st more content than you.

See that's the thing, Robin Williams told somebody, that person spread it like wildfire. If devs don't say who they are, then there'd be no problems with it! The fact is, devs tell a few people, and a few people tell others and it spreads like wildfire. It happens. If you're careful about everything, then there's 0 issues with it.
