Rofl .... can see why their doing this, all the talk about going over to AoC, but if they keep doing this it will get very annoying on a EQ2 flame board, WTB AoC Flame Board

You mean enormous crowd who has bought into all the hype and is ready to purchase it. Doom 3 was anticipated for almost 2 years and maybe lasted about 2 months because it blew total ass, despite people craving it for 2 years. Hype is really something, we'll see

VG had a massive fanbase at release. But what that fanbase was presented with was horrible, and wasn't fixed quickly, or ever, so they left. But at release I believe there was a lot of people playing.

Only thing I can say, is having seen some screenshots and info from friends who got into the beta, AoC does appear to run very smoothly with very high quality graphics (on a not amazing pc). Running smoothly and being pretty is a good start. Also the positional combat and healing sounds interesting.

I can see a lot more of this happening over the next few months and I imagine that quite a few people are waiting for a green light to do so.

Personally I think the state of EQ2 has shitcanned so much.. Even more since the launch of VG that alot of people are just looking for an excuse to leave the game.

Back when VG launched alot of people left EQ2 thinking that would be their "savior". Low and behold a good bulk of them came back b/c

A. New management = the suck
B. Alot of shithead 12 year olds from WoW
C. This ties into A. but ALOT of broken content.

imho if VG would of waited a few more months.. ironed out all the bugs.. introduced flying mounts at launch and had more raiding. EQ2 woulda been toast. But then again SOE owns both games. so its a loose/loose situation.. hence VG went from being hardcore to more EQ2 Casual daily....

Honestly.. up until a few months ago I really couldnt find a better MMO then eq2. and I think that is the same with a good bulk of peeps who play. I am not comparing Conan to EQ2 by no means whatsoever b/c there is alot of mechanics that just arent comparable on both sides. But I will tell ya this. Playing in beta for the last few weeks I actually felt challenged and needed to actively participate within the encounters as apposed to getting behind the mob and Auto Attacking.
