On further consideration, I've decided to do this award once a week for the best "whatever". Either the best new thread, new post, new content, just whatever was noteworthy as the best contribution to the site for the week.
Feel free to nominate users for this award, which I'll try and give on a weekly basis to one user each week in the future. Barring nominations, I'll just use my discretion and pick someone.
This week's award is going to several people, because I didn't feel right about only picking one person for this week, when we've had a number of outstanding recent contributions to the site. So I guess I'm playing catch up a bit with the user's I'm recognizing below.
In addition to individual weekly awards, I'm working on a new "lifetime achievement" award for this site. The lifetime achievement award will require any combination of either 5 indivudual weekly awards, or awards plus blocks of 5 users. For example, someone who won 3 weekly awards, plus had already referred 10 users, would qualify for a lifetime achievement award. The prize for the lifetime achievement award would be the same as for the 20 user referral award that we currently give, which is basically to turn on all the high risk features of the site for you, because at that point we trust you and feel like you deserve it. Those features include unlimited editing rights for your posts (from the 15 minute current edit limit), mailbox storage increased to 500 messages, the ability to change your title anytime you want, without having to ask an admin, and with HTML in your title and posts. I'll do a better announcement on this later in the week, after I get our new VG site up, with is presently kicking my ass.
The goal of the new Lifetime Achievement award is to encourage quality posts and contributions to this site, and long term, loyal users.

Illuminator, for posts too numerous to mention, based on scientfically accurate research, detailing the ongoing problem in EQ2 with farmers from China who play EQ2 for a RL living. You already have a title, so this is an "achievement credit" toward a lifetime award.

I'll be leaning toward giving future walkthroughs a weekly award toward the achievement credit just based on their popularity with our users.
