Yea, i was just checking out, since i have accessed it in the past and then suddenly i started getting these "site not reachable" messages, i thought it could be just a small problem and kept trying. Well kept trying once a week for 3 months, got bored and came here to ask.

The site failed because the game failed.

In like 8 months Vanguard will be a comparable alternative to EQ2 IMO.

The vgflames.com site sucked because at the time Vanguard sucked horribly and was pretty much the joke of the MMO industry. So I put that site out of its misery. At the time, the Sigil people were only posting on and supporting other sites. I didn't see the point of keeping up a site I was guaranteed to continue losing money on if I couldn't even get the time of day from the Vanguard community manager. I did dump several thousand dollars into that site, however, and that was a total loss.

I always felt it was a terrible shame about what happened to Vanguard, and place the blame for the entire mess solely on mismanagement by Brad McQuaid.

I thought the game itself was fun as hell, the parts that could be played anyway, and continued leveling my shaman to 40 even after all my friends quit. I only quit myself after their CS refused to reimburse an ultra rare recipe that poofed when I tried to scribe it. I'd spent my entire in game fortune on that recipe, and the loss would have been like starting over from the beginning to me, so I basically said fuck you Vanguard and quit, then shut down my site.

I would have had to maintain the site every day like this one to keep the spammers off, or it would have quickly become a mess. It just wasn't worth it to me.

I'd probably try it again. Unfortunately, the name "Vanguard" became somewhat of a joke in the larger MMO community - digging out of that would be quite the row to hoe.

I tried playing again now that they reactivated all the old accounts. One of the quests I was working on shortly after launch was bugged so I figured I'd go back to it and get it out of my journal. Yup...it's still bugged.

I'd love to see VGflames again, the drama on the FFA PvP server needs somewhere to be released hahaha.
