Long story short, it's not possible anymore. Unless someone here want to code a vBulletin modification to allow a per thread override of the 15 minute timer.

Seeing how he said the guy's code no longer works I would have to say that it would be a little more involved than a mere code merge with the new version of vb.

It no longer works with this version (it's installed). As far as updating it -- I'm not sure what the difficulty is, I don't have the source or the knowledge of how vBulletin hooks work.
