Request for VOLUNTARY cooperation

If at all possible, I'd really appreciate if people would stop using the F word and similar in post titles.

The single greatest reason this site will never get "official" affiliate status with SoE is the number of posts we have that use words like "fuck" and "cunt" in the title. If the titles didn't use those words, it would be much less obvious, and then much less offensive to people who view this site.

SoE is a corporation, I appreciate that. I couldn't let those words be used in connection with what consumer's saw regarding the company I work for in real life either.

On the other hand, I'm not going to censor the site. If you insist on being an asshole and making posts with "FUCK SOE FOR" in the title, I guess that's up to you. If on the other hand, you could use words like that inside your posts rather than in the titles where they scream out for attention to everyone surfing this site, I would really appreciate that.

I'm not trying to get all corporate on anyone, and like I said, no censoring is going to happen on this site. It's just that if you stop doing those things, it will be much easier for me to sell advertising on this site, and then I can try and break even instead of losing money each month.

An easy way to make money would be to run gold seller ads, and I can't do that because it would violate my principles plus go against everything this site stands for. It's also hard as hell to sell advertising with so many posts screaming "FUCK SOE" on the main page.

Please help a brotha out and think before you post, that's all I'm asking. Do you really need to say "fuck" and "cunt" in the title of your post?

I thought this is what this site was for, so that we could speak freely without having to worry about having our "free speech" censored.

It's nice that you want to be "affiliated" with SoE, but if you censor one aspect of it, what's to stop you to continue that down the line simply because you do want to be affiliated with SoE? It's a slippery slope, LFG, that once you start, it's hard to stop.

I came to this site because I wanted to be free of all that shit. Please, don't start that now.

Not to be a bitch or anything, but I fail to see how him politely asking for cooperation in keeping the subject line of a thread clean constitutes censorship.

It's a request so he can get advertisers who aren't plat farmers.

Yeah I'm sure being an affiliate site would be nice, but ignoring that completely, the monetary aspect of it is reason enough to cooperate with that.

He isn't going to force anything or edit anything. He was just asking, hey would you guys mind keeping the ugly in the post instead of in the subject so I can stop paying for this completely out of my pocket.

It's no different than asking people not to attack the SOE employees who have registered and begun posting here so that they'll STAY and answer questions.

It seems completely reasonable.

I pay my own money to run this site, month after month. I've never spammed donation requests on this site, and have never put up ads.

All I did above was ask for voluntary cooperation from people to not use words like fuck, shit, cocksucker, motherfucker, cunt in POST TITLEs. That's because those words stand out like a highway flare at 3 A.M. when they appear in the post listing on the main page of this site. The way this site is designed, it is basically all main page.

The way that some people use those words is like a 5th grader telling fart jokes. Some people apparently enjoy doing it because it's funny to them and they giggle afterwards, or do it to get attention. I don't know.

I in no way asked anyone to even reduce profanity inside posts. My request involved post titles only. And it was only a request. Censorship doesn't involve requests. This isn't censorship.

I'm going to have to put up ads to continue running this site, because it is stupid to be losing money doing this. All I want to do is break even, that's my only goal. I can make much more selling ad banners to individual companies than I can running Google ads or whatever, where you get a fraction of a cent when someone clicks something. But there is no possible way I can sell ads directly to any company with so many expressions of "fuck" and "cunt" in post titles. Nobody wants to be affiliated with that.

So the result of non-cooperation is 2 to 3 times as many ads on this site, to generate the same revenue so I can break even.

The choice is yours, really. Stop saying "fuck" and "cunt" in post titles, or end up with 3 times as many ad boxes on this site, instead of one banner at the bottom.
