Highly visible sig files and you

I had to remove a few sig files today.

This was the first time I've ever edited profane language on this site.

The reason I had to remove the sigs was because I got a dozen PMs from people who said they could not read this site at work with 130 x 600 vibrant pink sig files that had the words "I LOVE COCK" against a hot pink background - those sigs attracted attention, and could be easily read, from five or more cubicles away.

I'm just trying to protect some people's ability to be able to use this site, and if I have to ask a few people not to express themselves with blatantly sexual messages on flourescent sig files that jump off the page to be noticed against a black background, I guess that is the cost of freedom and liberty on this site.

Feel free to call me a nazi censor if you wish, but if you do so, tell me what you would have done instead, because I'm seriously at a loss on how to balance rights in this situation.

No, I do not have an equitable solution other than to ask the people to show a little common sense and respect. Most adults will understand. Some won't.

I personally found those sigs annoying and inane. They are not funny and look horrible.

Then again, maybe my fellow man will surprise me this once. Maybe you will not be assaulted and instead be greeted with understanding. I doubt it as there is one thing I've come to count on in this world: People's unlimited capacity for idiocy.

Im ok with them being removed.. They were funny the first time you see them, but then it gets old quick. On the other hand, there is an option in the User CP to not show sigs, avatars, etc.

On one hand, I feel that anybody who doesn't openly complain is a fucking pussy and should stop visiting this site. On the other, I found them annoying, but I just ignored them.

But honestly, tell me why people don't complain to the person involved, or openly about the person? Last I checked this was a Flames board, not a ooh this person has a signature I don't like I'm going to cry to the Admins like a little baby. Please, have some honesty here and complain about it openly. Crying about it privately to the Admins is not the way to go.

Ok I'm just thinking from the person who complains POV.

You are visiting your favorite site to look at while work and all of a sudden you come across a big pink sig that says "I Love Cock" in Blue letters which has the potential to get you fired. You want this removed ASAP so you can go on visiting your favorite site instead of being bored as hell at work. You have 3 possible solutions.

1. PM the sig owner which has no guarantee of getting it taken off.

2. Start a thread about the sig owner which has no guarantee to get it taken off.

3. PM LFG who will understand the problem and remove them.

Thinking from a "i don't wanna get fired" POV the 3rd is the logical choice.

Will the person who did it fess up? there is a chance but who knows.

You could also try working! That helps slake the boredom!
