Default IE7 and you.

OK it's really IE7 and me. I am running beta 3 of IE7 and like beta 2 there is a problem with the browser no longer responding sometimes when using tabs. There was a fix from Yahoo Toolbar that I think partly addressed this and in beta 3 it is much less of a problem.

That said, it seems this site causes my browser to stop responding far more than any other site, and even without using tabs. I don't know if there is anything related to this site or what that might be causing it so am interested if anyone else has this problem or has any potential solutions.

Of course one potential solution would be to go back to IE6 but uninstalling IE7 beta is unfortunately not a very good idea. Let's just say I had to use firefox to reinstall IE7 because I had no other options if I wanted to continue using IE at all (or at least I couldn't think of any).

Edit: OK it happened again. I'm pretty sure the problems I'm having are unrelated to the tab issue I referred to above. I have a Logitech optical mouse and have used the buttons to go forward and back while browing. This has never been a problem before but on this site it will sometimes cause the browser to stop responding. I only go to this site on IE7 so I don't know if this would happen in other browsers but to be honest I'm too lazy to try without having some info on why this may be happening.

I gave up IE a long time ago because Microsoft dragged its feet with adding popup blocking. That was the deciding issue that finally convinced me they really didn't give two shits about consumers. Firefox doesn't have as crisp a rendering engine, but the usability just blows IE out of the water.

There are certain reasons I need to use IE. And with IE7 popups don't seem to be much of a problem. In fact I have a hard time getting anything to pop up. :p

Thanks for the feedback, but . . .

This site is pretty much totally vanilla, and I'm just running some of the most common forum software on the Internet.

This site runs in Linux, on an Apache web server from a large, known commericial hosting company that is running the most current version of PHP and every related utility and app.

And you are running IE7 beta. The latest version of IE6 works perfectly for everyone, it does for me at least. I really can't be expected to support beta browsers, nor do I think the problem is mine. Hopefully, MS will be able to work the problem out during the remainder of beta, and when IE7 is released, it won't have the problems you are experiencing. But until then, I recommend only using the most recent full release version of either Firefox or IE with this site. Or maybe check the problem using both versions of the skins you can select at the bottom of the page, I dunno.

Thank you

I'm running IE7. Not Beta. And the only place I have problems is on the official EQ2 forums, imagine that.

Ok, clue me in then. From the official MS update site, I only get IE6. Is IE7 available as a full release product?

If you are running IE7 then it is beta. Unless maybe you are related to Mr. Bill. ;)

And I wasn't expecting support per se but just some possible solutions (I don't look at this board as only a support forum but more of a tech forum). Like I said I think it has to do with using those side mouse buttons to navigate on the web page but the odd thing is it only happens on this site. /shrug

All in all the problem doesn't really do anything more than annoy me since it won't kill the browser while I'm typing a message (unlike some other noteworthy forums *cough*).

I think I'm mistaken. It's not called Beta, it's called "Candidate 1" Whatever, lol

Ya, "Release Candidate 1" is Microsoft's fancy way of calling something beta :smiley-happy:

Genrally they follow like Beta 1, Beta 2, RC 1, RC 2 as LFG has said. Release candidate is not the final public release. By then it should just be called IE7.
