IDEAS: Next great contest?

So I'm drinking good Scotch whiskey again, this time in the Swisshotel in Chicago.

And I got to thinking.

Had I gotten off my ass regarding site advertising several months ago, our last contest (Miss EQ2Flames) not only would have paid for itself, but would have generated a couple hundred bucks toward site maintenance and upgrades also (you calculate it, over 200k page views among the various contest threads times appx. 1/2 cent per page view).

Suddenly, this all becomes clear as a win win situation for us all.

Let's do more contests that cause people to go nuts, stay up way past bedtime, and be all they can be for the purpose of winning something meaningful in a way that promotes EQ2 and the spirit of this site.

So peeplez, what will our next contest be? And what should the winner receive as a prize?

Our redesign, including ad boxes and our new format, has now been paid for and is about 10 days away. Our new server and hosting is paid for, and our new 5x speed upgrade and capabilities are about as far away as Niber makes them.

All we need to be wildly successful and have the most interesting game related EQ2 site on the Internet (except TTH, they will always be more interesting than us!) are your ideas.

So share your ideas, please.

I was thinking, if we had a contest for highest zonewide dps parse, and highest zonewide heal parse:

-What would the rules be?
-Which zones would be included in this contest?
-What would acceptable proof be?
-How would we be assured that the proof posted was legitimate?

Note, this is just one idea for a contest, I'd still rather have other ideas, I'm tapped out on creativity atm.

Well, if you do this, you're looking at people who's raid is ok setting them up, and people who's guild ISN'T ok with setting them up....just a little food for thought.

Maybe we can do Best EQ2 Comic strip...it's as easy as taking some screenies and using paint to add in the text boxes. This way we can make fun of the things that all erk us or we can even use the poeple from our servers that make us laugh on a daily basis. Just a thought.

Illuminator the 32 Illusionist on Blackburrow, that has GOT to be a mindfuck rofl

No biggie, everyone else in the endgame seemed to have a real name name and my char was named after some flashlight you can buy at Walgreen's. Now you know, the real Illuminator isn't named Illuminator anymore.

...why not hold a flame-off or a contest for the most creative flame?
(This is a flaming site, no?)

Or, a photoshop contest? Select a couple of pictures from the news and let our talented photoshop people have at it.

Design an EQ2Flames Banner? (Not that there's anything wrong with this one, but if we're moving to new servers, maybe a new banner to start things off?)

Prizes could be anything from a free El Presidente subscription to an Amex Giftcard, Amazon Gift Certificate... shit like that.
