VOTE: Should sig file size limits be reduced?

I've received feedback and complaints that sig files currently being used by certain unnamed Ratonga and others are just too damn big and unwieldy.

These users have expressed a desire to limit the height of sig files to just "a wee bit higher than the ones allowed on the SoE forums." If this vote is approved by a majority, sig files would not be limited in width except to a normal page width. So you could still express yourself horizontally if you desire.

I personally don't care, but it does reduce the number of posts to a page when people use big ass sig files. Well, I guess I'll vote yes, but only because I must vote to see the poll results.

Simple yes or no vote please - this isn't complicated.

People have the options to turn off sigs if they find them too cumbersome. Sqee shouldn't have two sigs tho, I know he's working on a sig that sort of "combines" both of them (at least until I have time to seriously work on it) so HOPEFULLY he'll stop being a douche and only use the one I made for him (cuz its way way cooler)

I vote as long as its not obnoxiously large, I don't see a problem with it. If it is obnoxiously large, just ask the player via PM if they could possibly make it smaller or find another image to use.

It may be a pipe dream, but I'm hoping to grow this site to at least 3000 active users. Since I don't plan to quit my day job, I need to implement systems that help people act reasonably on their own, and without the need for Admin intervention, to the maximum extent possible.

It's an issue for some on slow connections probably but as Elaine points out you can very easily turn them off. Still, I think having uniform sizes for sigs just makes everything neater so I'm for it. And Ix if you do backups you might appreciate having them smaller too as the board grows backups will get huge. Plus, I don't know what kind of bandwidth hosting services you have but each time each one of us downloads that crap it's costing bandwidth some how. Again not an issue when you're small, but this place is growing fast.

I am not a fan of huge sigs. Only reason being that it does take away from the actual "text" space per page. Not so concerned about them being a bit bigger than the norm, but have limits in place to keep those from playing " My sig is bigger than your sig" lol

I once saw, on a board where posting not-safe-for-work pics was allowed (it isn't here, since half our users are obviously goofing off at day jobs while posting here), a dude who posted a pic of a 13" fully engorged penis with a measuring tape above it as a very wide and horizontal sig file. I think his intent was to engage people in measuring contests.
