Soulfire Hammer or Staff?

Im trying to decide between Soulfire Staff or Hammer as a DPS Fury. The obvious choice would be the staff but as I think about it there are some things to take into account. First, while a DPS fury, I still have a group to take care of. Second, every once in a while i do take the druid spot in MT group. Third, I'd like to know the mex + spell DMG on items that you can get. My Wisdom and Intelligence are both at the point that having more of each wont effect power or even damage much. Any thoughts? Keep in mind that with RoK due soon, there will be lots of grouping for Exp.

What other weapons do you have? I personally went with the staff, but I have the Staff of Unending Growth and the Emerald Hammer already. Also, the Hammer of the Pureblood out of TTR is better than the Soulfire Hammer if your guild can take down Vampire Mayong. You can always hotbar your weapons and switch out depending on the fight.

A decent weapon is the only thing I lack really. Was using Scepter of the Doomsworn before I got my Lucanic weapon. We can take down mayong but the chances of the hammer droping and the chances of me getting it with almost every other priest would be small. I keep thinking the hammer though just for the group heal proc and the + to healing and not the staff because it doesnt really add to my DPS. I suppose i can pick one and just have a GM change it if i dont like it ><.

I believe a GM posted that they would not be switching the SOD awards. So choose wisely.

I got my SoD reward switched yesterday from hammer to staff. I havent had this happen and the GM basically said grats on getting your 1 time swap of a quest reward - this wont happen again. So if you have to you can swap them.

I went back to staff assuming I'll get the hammer from new tunaria / RoK epic as superior anyway.

I went with staff... basically same reasons mentioned above.

Godking will work fine until i can get the NTT pureblood hammer.

The staff is basically our only chance to get a nice dps weapon as a healer. Probably not wise to take a high end dps weapon away from a mage with dkp... aka staff of light as a comparison.

the hammer in and of itself is a catch 22 when it comes to healing for the "UBER" player. especially that of the role of the fury.

the way our heals are setup and upto healing application: group heals have upto divided by three so if you have upto 300 you are actually getting upto 100 for your group heals. Hibernate is affected in no way by upto. and owls reparation has the extra amount applied only to the first tick of the regen.

all single target heals get the full effect of upto and greater bloodflow has the extra healing amount applied on the first tick.

other people can come from different situations for sure but i think ive been in the MT group maybe 3 nights in the past year and 3 months. But mind you, devils advocate as a fury i was in the MT group fairly often. The optimal weapon is of course the Staff of Growth, not to mention if you cant do contested you have the Hammer of the Pureblood, then if your guild just can quite kill all the instanced content you have the Righteous Scepter of the Godking. People always over look the latter even though it was the best healing proc in game until the release of TTR. I can see people having a toss up between Scepter of the Godking and the Soulfire hammer as a primary for an MT healer so you will just have to make up your mind yourself with that one.

back to reality, we are a dps, mostly mage group healer. from power cost, dps and healing benefit in many instances its more effective use our group heals even when the goal is to heal only a single target. so essentially we dont get much out of a upto healing under general circumstance.

If I were u i would do the Soulfire Staff. the reason being the best healing item you can get as a fury is the TTR hammer. The best damage item you can get as a fury is the Staff of Light. Avatars will no longer be dropping the staff of light come a couple months and realistically your never ever going to get it. Soufire staff is a decent substitute and you will still be able to get the best healing item currently in game for your situation.
