Default Buttons or clicks?

How do you heal?

My husband plays an assassin - a rocking good assassin, from what I can tell - but recently I've been screwing around on his account. If the raid is healer-heavy dps-light, I can switch over and help out. My dps on his toon is okay but obviously not what he does.

While teaching me the tips and tricks of the class he frequently rips me a new one about the fact that I'm a clicker, and that I can never, ever dps as well as he does unless I learn to be a button pusher. I can live with that, but he also believes the best healers are button guys too.

So... what do you guys do?

I click to do just about everything and only in long/boring/stationary fights do I resort to using number keys to tap out heals.

im actually a button pusher for heals, and clicker for dps, one hand on the 1-6 keys, and one hand on the mouse, so i have heals set up for the left side of my hot bars, and dps set up on the right, it makes for a pretty good combination... but the diffrence between button pushing and clicking isnt that big, you just have to learn to queued up all your stuff

It's personal preference...it shouldn't make a difference. I click everything and keep my finger on control and hit numbers for cures.

CA's have 0.5 second / instant cast times so queueing up your next ability is only possible when / if your waiting for recast. So for CA's, button mashing is faster then clicking but as a healer we have spells with longer cast times so button mashing or mouse clicking doenst matter.

For my personal preference, I use keys and key combos but also use the mouse for any hotbar that can't have a key/combo assigned.

same I do combo

four fingers on heals and other hand on mouse.

The reason he says that is button mashing will waste no time, while clicking might waste a second or two. As in the recast timer is up and the skill is ready and then that time between that and you clicking. If you button mashing the second it comes up, you hit it.

I click. I never got the hang of setting up my hotbars properly (i change them too often) and using the keyboard.

I click for heals, and click for dps...I click to cure (profit ui ftw) and click to spot heal the raid (again profit ui ftw).

I do get into trouble if i do accidentally detarget, as i flap a little if i've forgotten to set up target/assist macros lol. Aaah where did my target go? *panic*

clickies mostly. i have profit ui so i use the clicky cures & when having to toss a spot heal to somebody other than the tank (either in group or raid), i use the quick raid buttons with profit. that way i dont have to switch target off the tank & can just have another heal already queued up for the tank after the spot heal or cure.

only time i really use the keyboard is to straight target somebody in my group & stay on them (if im spam healing them for a reason) or to use my hotkeys for targetting our tanks. i always have our mt, ma & then down the line for any other tank in guild so in case somebody goes down or somebody's on adds & they need a heal, just hit the target button & heal away without havin to find them in the raid window.

Both... 1 hand on f keys + esc/tab/next target to switch from healing to dps mid cast if needed or target someone for a cure... 1 hand on mouse for *all* of what I cast.

From seeing some competitions from FPS games back in the day - I am willing to believe just about any setup/config for a game can be mastered. Come down to a matter of personal preference and what works for you best. Seen some amazing players with some real WtF configs.
