Default Tortoise Shell, more overall DPS?

Hey there.

Not sure if there's been made a topic on this exact issue.

OK.. I'm wondering about Tortoise Shell, Serenity and Infusion in a pure raid perspective.

Thing is, I'm often being told I should spec TS for raiding, but I cannot have all 3 end abilities, tho I would really like to ;) In the past I have denied TS spec due to Serenity being a beast in PvP and Infusion being lots of DPS in raids, but with the "new" AA mirrors there's nothing holding me back from having a TS spec.

At first the arguement was spec'ing TS for survivability, but after having killed all of T7 (except contested EOF and TNT Mayong) and now being upto Nexano in T8 on my fury, I have sort of concluded it is not needed to survive anything yet in this game.

Now the arguement is to maximize DPS and this I think could be true, eventho the buff leaves me with temp 0 DPS ;) I guess with our best raid setup, my guild can dish out 60k+ dps on trash in lets say, Pawbuster zone. I guess it would come out around 50-55k zonewide DPS, and I would probably dish about 2,5k+ of those. On a good day ;)

OK, so if TS should be used to maximize DPS, how would you approach this?
Spec first..
Infusion is about 20% of my zonewide DPS, so I guess it would be foolish to spec out of end INT ability?
Serenity is a lifesaver sometimes, but I guess I am mostly using it to spare Freedom of the Mind pots. Maybe it would be the best to leave out Serenity? Seems a lil obvious to do this, tho this buff is actualy saving my grp at times.

I am guessing the best way to maximize DPS with Tortoise Shell is to: pile on fury in AOE range, do lots of caster DPS, jester on the fury?, then pop TS and counter one AOE, cancel after AOE.. then continue fury DPS, reuse TS if possible b4 next AOE or joust. Rince repeat.

I was wondering if any furies have some experience with using this? I'd really like a little input
Never the less, I am wanting and going to experiement some with this, but I am unsure if I should leave out Serenity or Infusion for a raid spec including TS. I guess the obvious choice is to leave out Serenity if I am wanting to optimize DPS in my mage grp. hehe.

Cheers

Eeling, the PvP/Raid Fury.

As far as JC goes, just about any fight you're only going to get one TS off before the mob is dead. Any fight TS works on (non-VP), it's more of a bonus than a necessity.

Serenity is nice, but I definitely use ts more. Not every named stuns, but almost every named has an aoe, some more severe than other.

yeah with my mirror I have two specs one is avatar spec which I went down Serenity and Turtle and then my raid is Turtle and infusion. what you could do is have one of your specs be serenity and Infusion then another Turtle and infusion. I really don't use Turtle shell until VP and only for a few fights.

I was speced Serenity and TS before.
Serenity does not work on all the stuns/stifles anyways.

so i speced Turtle Shell and Infusion and have not regretted it.
I still have my mirror set to the old setup .. but i have never even switched back.

I speced for TS when the troub speced away from blade dance. I love the vortex/TS setup.

aye

srsly, thx for the replies! :D

I am definately gonna spec Infusion and TS. I raided a lil more with my old Serenity/Infusion spec and Serenity really doesnt seem to be used that often (serenity does counter all stuns, not stifles or mezz tho.. if only we were that lucky.)

But yea, it definately seems like I could get a lot more raid usage out of TS than Serenity, I was just curious what other furies were thinking, and u made me sure of my next AA choice :D Gonna respec soon.. (Heh, oops.. Slack detected!)

About using tortoise shell for dps: you really aren't limited to using it as an AE breaker; it has practically 0 cast time, and can be cancelled instantly just by tapping the hotkey/clicking again; therefore, it is a terrific infusion proc, and a solid part of your dps casting chain.

In terms of minimal cast speed, and therefore greatest dps by procing infusion, ts>fae immolation>hibernation>utr>ak

in other words, yes, it does increase dps a fair bit.

Serenity (IIRC) makes caster immune to stun/interupts. Not too many stun AoEs out there that I can think of that would help save your group. TS/Infusion would be the best setup. STA all the way down to heal crits with the rest of your AAs. There are lots of AEs you should use TS for. 3/4 skellies in PR, Doomcoil, and the last mob. You could use TS on Overking, and lost of mobs in VP w/ Wing Beat will need TS. Serenity IMO is a waste. You don't have the guaranteed stun immunity, but you can cast grp heals, and proc the stun immunity AA on yourself and it would work almost the same.

P.S. If you get rid of Infusion, you should probably delete your toon!
