Help with DPS
Hey guys.
I started raiding again recently and am having probs with making the kind of DPS that others are quoting in these forums. Any suggestions/hints/help would be appreciated.
I'm at full on the INT AA line, use EV and Infusion constantly against trash mobs and on last night's raid my INT was spiking at 1300+ thanks to an Illy in the group.
I also use the damage increase gear that I have, including Staff of Nihilism.
Last night against the trash in SoH, I had very little need to spot heal the MT so I was rotating around group heals, Fae Immolation and SOW so infusion was constantly proccing (I could see figures of 800 to 900 each as it procced) yet I was pushed to even make 1K DPS even when I was using EV as well. To make the numbers worse, most of the raid I was in a full group of 6
What am I not doing or what am I doing that I shouldn't be?
What figures do the rest of you see for the individual procs for Infusion?

Re: Help with DPS
one of the BIGGEST mistakes that ive seen furies make is trying to do pretty much ALL of their dps through infusion, or a HUGE chunk of it. ur nukes are going to give ur biggest dmg. infusion is just a filler when ur nukes r down. there r SOME fights when it IS ur dmg (trak), but on all others if ur not nuking, then ur losing out. get a spell rotation with ur nukes that includes things like fae immo for auto attack (bonus...procs infusion!), hibernate to keep ur group in the green so u dont have to spot heal as much (bonus...procs infusion!), then nukes when theyre back up. think about it, a 10k bolt, dots ticking over 1k a pop, & a 5k or so starshower with infusion hitting at 500 min a proc while ur waiting for the nukes again or just the 500 point dmg procs from infusion. what's gonna be more dmg?

Re: Help with DPS
Sorry I should have said, I do use nukes as well.
Lightning bolt isn't M1 yet bit I did manage 10K+ for the first time 2 nights ago. Starshower was my M2 choice and I use that when it's up as well.
I'm even still using miracles and blessings to try to get DPS up and am failing miserably. I regularly manage 45K+ for Incinerate but it just doesn't seem to help.

Re: Help with DPS
Well first thing, SoH isn't the best zone to do amazing parses for casters. Also, if you don't have a troub in your group, your DPS is gonna drop by a good bit.
Go get yourself a bloodthirsty choker form SoF imo! Also, make sure you're always in melee range with your autoattack turned on, every bit helps when you're trying to DPS.
You wanna get your spell crit / + spell dmg up as much as you can. Gear with damage procs is nice too if you can get your hands on some pieces.
If you're casting your pets, dots, nukes, combat arts, then hibernate and fae, you shouldn't really need to cast SoW to proc infusion in between imo.
And hmm sounds silly, but your dps is gonna suck if the debuffers in your raid aren't doing their job, just saying

Re: Help with DPS
what's ur crit, spell mod? there's more to dmg than just int. it's a combo of all of these that make up the big numbers that ur seeing on these boards.

Re: Help with DPS
Thx for the help so far guys 8o)
Self buffed spell crit is 40%
Self buffed spell mod is 595 damage
I usually use:
Staff of Nihilism - +110 damage
Silver Entwined Pendant - + 25 damage
Arm Guards of the Farseer - + 50 damage
If it helps, full spec is here:

Re: Help with DPS
depending on ur power situation, I'd go full out crit, dmg & int. go cloth pieces if u have to. why not? they have the best stats & effects for casters. use pots & scrolls to pop up ur crit. the make a coupla pieces be ur power pieces such as the lava forged manacle, blue shiny belt, sage cloak, that u can switch out or use as perma pieces to ur dps setup dependin on how u to with power otherwise. ur crit's quite low but can be altered easily with gear in rok. have u done all the questlines? a lot of the best gear for dps is from them. do the instances. get praetors, drusilla robe, choker. check out the broker for crit & spell mod stuff. once u get these up, ull definitely notice an improvement.

Re: Help with DPS
Two points to remember gearing wise - you don't have to wear leather, and your gear doesn't have to have WIS. Gear like a Mage if you want to do DPS. Some non-raid gear that would be an upgrade (DPS wise, at least) to what you're wearing right now include Fuchsia Finery, Tormented Bracelet of Doom, Burdened Signet, Usla's Bangle, Praetor's Guard, Aquamarine Scale Earring, Bloodthirsty Choker/Prime Clasp of Sustenance, Jarsath Robe of Royalty/Storm Warden's Battle Jerkin, Symbol of the Eaten. If all you need to heal is Choker damage, and the occasional riposte or aggro rip, then you don't need to gear for healing.
Use your Group Epic over the Staff of Nihilism. The damage bonus from the Staff is *Magic* damage only, and thus only affects Lightning Bolt. The proc damage plus the damage bonus of the Epic, should outparse the 2% spell crit + Force X. Hopefully your raid force can kill, or is close to killing Druushk.
Get out one or both of Sunrise / Ball Lightning on pull while the mob is being debuffed, then go in with your damage spells first. When your DPS spells are down, fill in with Hibernate / Untamed Regeneration if your group needs healing, or Fae Immolation / Cheetah if not. Don't stress about keeping Choker user's health topped off. You can afford to let their health dip as long as an AOE isn't incoming.
My last SOH run on my alt Fury I did ~2400 zw (w/ Troub & Illus.) I could definitely do better with more practice, and no doubt others do. The only raid gear I used were my Mythical and the Ring of Rage. Oh yeah, and the Beacon of Transmute! too.
