imho Fuy is the most fun you will have as a healer, we can do both heal and DPS. I am always in a raid mage group, sometimes I have another healer in the group which makes it all the more fun for me. However I will give you examples of what my parse is like if I am 2nd healer or only healer.

solo raid healer in mage group: For most recent example I was the solo healer in the mage group for adds on Nexona (Back Flagging new peeps to guild and getting their myth updates ugh!!!) Not one person in my group died, especially our Warlock and Wizzy who were blasting the hell outta the adds. While keeping them up and NO DEATHS including the OT, I still managed to parse 2500 for the fight (gotta love the Myth'd Illy who I hold resposible for keeping my power up).

2nd healer in same fight two weeks prior I was parsing around 4.7k on the adds (couldn't maintain better DPS because the adds were being blown up by the mages so fast we were waiting on the shinies to pop). However our guild has also taken to putting my fellow fury and myself in groups and we are being told to consider ourselves primary DPS and we are hitting parses of 7k to 8.4k (other fury has a couple pieces I would like). Next time i will save the parse and post if you like, but the better DPS'ing furies out there know this is true.

My point from the above is that no other healer in the game is as versatile as the fury imho. With heal stance and a quick macro to change to heal gear (and btw my spell crit is still at 60%+ depending on buffs from group) I can heal very well and can usually heal in the top 3 or 4 of the parse, mind you this is not placing my Single Target HoT on the MT or OT.

So to OP if you like playing a Fury, learn the class again, learn how effective they are and show them what you got!!!

outside view - I always thought that furies were better healers and Wardens were more like a druidy shaman? lol

I sure hope it's not the case as I'm rolling a fury as we speak just for pure healing when an instance group might need heals or raid or whatever.

Thanks for all the feedback folks, some interesting replies.

Since I last posted I made a decision to persevere with my Fury and I'm glad that I did. He's now level 80 and starting to pick up some nice gear. Even with only a single tier one shard piece and 120aa I'm able to solo heal the lower TSO instances without too much of an issue (overloaded heal procs ftw). I'm pleased with its performance now and there's still plenty more to be had.

There are a few things the Warden has that I'm jealous of but on balance I prefer the Fury, if nothing else then just for the sheer fun and challenge of the class.

I haven't tried raiding with him yet but I'll post back here with my experiences when I do for anyone that might be interested..

i wouldn't rely too much on procs btw atm, they are being nerfed :/

Just a thought, my dirge's dps has gone down on test due to proc stuff happening :/

Yeah I read a little about the incoming proc nerf, any idea when it will hit? I'm hoping that by the time it does I will have replaced my current gear and be less dependant on procs.

Hmm wondering the Myth power supply? Well word on the street is it's getting nerfed big time! Which we can get by using the right gear and group set up. When I first saw that power proc on Warden's myths I was considering betraying myself but came to the conclusion that its the player not the toon that makes the healer! Gear yourself right and learn your class and you can outheal any warden.

manawell is still useful I heard but Overloaded heals aren't gna be as useful...

and why choose a power restoring myth over one that ubbah's your heals? Illu/Coer ftw (dirge too, gravitas for those harder encounters :P)
