Default Eep, can it be true? :-(

o/ All,

I've just arrived back in the wacky world of EQ2 after a lengthy break of just over a year. Despite from appearances going against the trend, its nice to be back.

So, just trying to get my head around all the changes and re-learn my character again, (a big thanks to some of the contributors to these forums, which I find a useful resource) but alas, disturbing news.

A friend who has stuck with EQ2 throughout my absence tells me that at my level (72 atm), I should seriously consider betraying. He tells me that furies aren't very popular and are now only of limited use in raids and groups. I'm led to believe that Wardens are far more in demand and are simply better healers, that they are capable of things the Fury just isnt.

Run, he says. Run away from the fail Fury and come to bask in the warm fuzzy glow of the wonderful Warden.

So, what do you think folks? Is there any truth to this? Should I be thinking of defecting? The last thing I want to do is level up my Fury and attempt to join another guild just to find that no one wants me.

IMO, a fury CAN heal exceptionally well. Better than some wardens I know. It all comes down to gear, aptitude of the player and AA spec. Many/most furies tend to DPS more than they heal, which gives furies a bad rap when LFG. Once you prove you CAN and DO heal, THEN throw your DPS in, you will be noticed. I'm not talking about mythicalled furies in high end raid guilds here, just us non-uber-decked out ones. I can't tell you what the raiding guilds are looking for as I'm not in one.

So its effectively true then? Furies CAN heal well, but generally not as well as Wardens. On top of this most Furies don't really try to heal particularly well, which strengthens the perception that they are an inferior healer class?

Proving your abilities amongst a peer group is one thing, but to try and change the perception of an entire server is quite another.

If I want to be primary healer and get into the more difficult instances then I guess warden is the sensible choice.

Thanks for the info.

LOL to be honest a warden is looked at the same as a fury. People either want reactives or wards not regens. on a pure regen fight Furys are better for group heals. I can do everthing a warden can do but I dont have a elemental ward thats really the only big difference. I can pew pew harder too. and in raids I can solo heal my group and PEW PEW better then any other healer. when it comes to finding a guild DRUIDS in general are hard to find guilds for its not just Furys. no one needs more then a single druid in a guild. and to be honest a fury suits that role better then wardens because at least Furys can heal and dps where as wardens have a hard time pushing the high numbers with out OMG good gear

Well its nice to see a counter argument I suppose, even if it does point out that its not just Furies that are unpopular, but druids in general. I really cant be arsed to level a completely different healer type though, and besides, even if I could I think I'd probably die of boredom playing something like a templar.

Pew Pew, eh? Do you play EvE too? Druids suck BECAUSE OF FALCON!

Just ignore the above if you don't, it wont make any sense.

Stick with the Fury. Wardens can heal well, but that's about it. Learn your class and you'll be able to heal very well (better than a warden if you try) and still be able to dps like mad.

Yes druids get a bad rap, and either way you go you may have a harder time getting a group than a shaman or cleric. But, if you're good then you'll develop a reputation as being good and the invites will come.

Don't not play a class just because some other asshats suck at it.

I agree with other Furies, stick with your class. Get a respec mirror and of course more aa. I have a dps spec and a heal spec (the heal spec has some dps since i have 192aa). My roommate went from a Fury to a warden and now betrayed back to a fury, cuz he said they are so much fun and he never gets bored with the class.

It's also nice having 2 healers in the group and you arent just partially useful. Suprise them by out dpsing everyone in the group.

Yea stick to fury im a primary healer and soloheal zones like DF,hollowtower,scion,anathema,ooa... all the time with ease and mostly t2 shard armor.

Ill attempt to soloheal crucible and the harder zones when i got t3 or better :p

Can easily outhealparse (better equiped)wardens,
and most people prefer me to a warden anyway :p

The fury does just fine healing instances AND raids while still having the ability to put out amazing dps, stick with the fury.

A more true statement cannot be made. Every class has their respective clowns and it is up to us to keep the Fury reputation intact.

As for playability, Furies still rule in versatility. Stick with the class if you like it. Yes there are issues, but love for the game > all the other BS.

If you are looking for some dirt, furies have indeed lost their usefulness in buffing raid groups. We are/were the perfect Mage group healers with our Lucidity buffs and awesome group heals. Now Lucidity is mostly pointless since many raiding mages have capped their INT already. Even melee DPS are capping their STR and haste so Feral is becoming a bit redundant as well.

In terms of healing, we are just as good as Wardens and can easily out DPS them so in my opinion we win in overall usefulness. Yes most groups love to have a warding healer on board but we compliment any group as the perfect secondary healer. Wardens will only be straight up healing while we will be healing and make booms happen.
[Note: BTW I am not suggesting we are a "second tier" healer. In fact we can solo heal most, if not all, the TSO instances depending on gear, spells and skill of course.]
The only other thing I can say is that everyone and their mom has a Fury now-a-days. But that doesn't mean you will necessarily be overlooked. Just make a good name for yourself.

I say level the Fury to 80 and see how it goes. If you hate it, go ahead and be a traitor ... I mean ... switch classes.
