DPS Stance vs Stanceless
OK read a few of the threads and haven't seen anything new on the verdict of DPS stance. Is it useless? Can we effectively heal in it? Since we are hated as healers, if I can parse 6k w/out it can I try and get a dps spot in a group thats hard up for DPS and actually have the group say "wow this doesn't suck completely?"
On a side note I have no problems solo healing the instances, and most the time being top 3 on the parse while keepoing everyone green, but I am tired of every time I get a group they ask me if I need another healer. So now can I just say yes, go into DPS stance and at least have fun?

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
If you can net a few pieces of gear in your dps setup that proc heals of spells/hostile spells, then even with the dps stance on, it's not hard to heal a group of chokers and/or jewels (both can be tough, though).
Now if you're looking at a mob that has some decent AEs, either consider a lot more healing gear, or at least a few more pieces to make you slightly better at it.
Also, since the dps stance slows down beneficial spell casting, some may even argue that it decreases dps because of that. Personally, I've found at least a 1k increase from the stance, so I see nothing wrong with it.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
I use it but toggle it off when I see serious healing on the horizon. It only takes a second to turn off and your healing goes up exponentially just for having it OFF and then when the weather slows a second you can turn your heal stance on. People expect furies to need backup (or front) healers because so many furies refuse to do their job before they DPS.
Healers first. DPS Second. If you keep a group up and green, you won't hear anyone bitch about your DPS but the second you kill someone for being an idiot they'll scrutinize your DPS and your HPS.
So: DPS Stance = Win but can be turned off when needed.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
Thanks for the information. I will have it soon and look to play with it. How much of a DPS increase have you all been seeing. I am not sure why but lately I have been getting group invites, and some raid invites as almost purely DPS with situational healing. A strange role but I am ok with it as long as I get groups and raids.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
I dont even worry about folks asking me if I need another healer. I just ask them if they want me heal spec'd or dps spec'd. If they say Heal, then I let them know I should be good by myself and I gate to my house and grab my Heal spec from the mirror. If they want me to DPS then I tell them to grab another healer to help out.
Most of my guild groups want me DPS spec'd and we just get another healer. On raids I mostly solo heal the Mage group but on occasion, I get to DPS from the mage group and the Illy gives me TC so I can still use my DPS stance. The TC speed cast bonus negates the decrease in heal spell cast time. I also still have the heal stance within my DPS spec... so I can just swap gear and buffs and im still pretty good for healing bigger damage spikes. Kinda the best of both worlds.
I tried to do a hybrid spec using the INT line for max spell crit, the WIS line for max heal crit, and some of the STR line for some DPS (although most is Melee damage). I didn't like the spec at all because I dropped about 1.5 - 2K in my DPS. So I just kept my Heal spec and DPS spec and use the AA mirror to swap.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
Quick question, I have heard with 172 AA you can get your stance, Heal or DPS, by respeccing. I have tried this and can't figure it out. Can someone please explain the process? I have 175AA now and would love to get this done for a heal and DPS spec. Any help is appreciated and thanks for the comments.

Respec KoS, spend enough AAs to start spending points in TSO. Repeat with KoS or EoF trees.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
Meant to post this earlier and forgot, to further explain what pinski said:
You can get your endlines at as soon as 172 aa if you respec enough times(if you have one of those respec cards left it really comes in handy). You must have 10 points spent in your last shadow aa line and 170 points spent total in order to purchase your new shadow endlines. So for simplicity's sake let just say you have 70 points spent in KOS tree, 70 spent in EoF tree, and 32 spent in TSO tree. Respec KoS tree, spend 68 points, you now have 170 points spent along w/ 2 points unspent so now you can move them the final line of your TSO tree, now your points will be distributed 68/70/34. Now respec KoS tree again, and again spend all but 2 points, and again put the 2 unspent points in your final line in TSO tree, now your points are distributed 66/70/36. Lets say next time you repec EoF tree, put 68 points back into EoF tree and then put the extra 2 into your last TSO line, points are now distributed 66/68/38. And so on and so on until you have your endlines.

Re: DPS Stance vs Stanceless
Well been testing it and when I am invited as DPS I can easily push 7k +. Unfortunately unless it is an SK or Pally I have serious problems not getting aggro. Furies should get some sort of hate transfer for when we are in dps stance imho.
