what im thinking is that we picked a shitty zone to do this in b/c obviously there is to much variation...ill try and contact u in game maybe we can figure something out. set up your parser for exdps b/c it will show u the dps of the procs throughout the entire raid time..just shows better for the duration

Is the Direwood Buckler really that good for DPS? I admit not have yet to see it, but i use Buckler of Divine Energy and do pretty good DPS.

Don't know if this is still an interesting topic to anyone; but I had a few things to add. My general setup proc gear includes the Buckler, Boner Girdle, Invoker Earring (noob, I know), MO hat, and the Wip from sawtooth (melee proc); and of all of them Direwood Thorns ends up doing the most damage total. I also checked and I do think that even tho 2 of my procs say they do piercing damage, they are based on my spell crits.

I have 38.5% spell crits in the group I'm always in, and my parser showed the following crit rates for my proccing gear

Direwood Thorns 38%
Char 45%
Burning Affliction 45%
Strike of Thorns 50% (Might be slightly off because it is an AE proc, so a crit on an encounter of 3 will bonk this up a bit)
Mutagenic Haze 47%

I stopped using the Fitzpizzle Protector because I got that Censer of Planar energy to help with power and general stats, and because the protector was always the lowest of all my proc gear for some reason, <1% of my dps.

In my opinion, at this time, the Buckler is pretty good. I do not have the blood of the brood watcher to compare tho

the point of the thread was to see what the best secondary and ranged combo was for dps...every parse ive ran on it shows the blood of the brood watcher well ahead and the fitzpizzles always just about the same.

the direwood buckler can not be 1% spell crit adorned whereas both the blood of the brood watcher and fitzpizzles can be. so effectively by even using fitzpizzles the proc damage will be relatively the same, (it will parse either way) you get a heal proc and an xtra 1% spell crit.
