more recently ive been feeling bad about it...especially with changes to cures on the more difficult fights i have less time to dps and in some situations lets say avatar of war or hate as a healer dpsing is probably the dumbest thing you could be doing.

Oh durr. For some retarded reason I thought you were implying that the buckler didn't use spell crits. Even as I was typing it I thought "no, that can't be what he meant" because you've probably looked at the crits hundreds of times lol.

I have a question for you though. Would you use a ~1% total zonewide dps proc item over the Censer of Planar Energy? Or should I just adorn it with the 1% crits?

on a dps fight it of course serves no pupose and im sure i will get absolutely no debate on that.

as far as a healing fight...as a fury heal crits are very minimal just from the nature of the beast...low amount of heal on spell equates to when you use a %based increase you are getting a minimal return. but i can see how despite how minimal the increase is it can still be desireable.

here are you options. the claymore reward which you should be wearing...increases beneficial spell casts which if you have noticed works for clicky items...IE if you watch you maintain buff bars and that buff is up items like honor of pantrilla and manastone 2.0 will increase in the amount of power recieved from the click. that right there is a huge benefit as well as random chance to cure while healing which has become increasingly more beneficial with recent changes.

the other lets look at the meat and potatos of the censer...its obviously 2%heal crit and 10ft. that comes out to 100power every minute if you are already not capped. now lets explore justifications for using this in the secondary slot. (I am assuming that a raiding fury has seen the need for specing the tortoise shell line). In order to use TS you need to have a buckler equiped which yes can be easily swaped out with a click macro if you already dont have about 15 like i do. for me 10ft is useless, for u it might not be so when i look at it i read the 10ft just as some blue text on the description. as far as the 2%spell crit...well bucklers have the ability to be 1% heal crit adorned neways so you can easily get a buckler out of acadacism and effectly have 2% heal crits on that slot and in addition be able to use TS. your next question might be "well with the censer i can get 2% heal crit and 1% spell crit after adronments, isnt that better?" my answer would be no b/c if you are even caring about that spell crit you wouldnt be using the censer to dps anyways you would be using a hostile procing item.

so the short of it is i wont ever get the censer im actually quite positive we have xmute/sold 3 to alts.

I messed around with all of these items and parsed them blah blah see above for results. With the heavy cure fights now like widem this is the setup I have been using.

Staff of light prim (velium swiftblade for animal form)
Matron bucker (mabye Pureblood buckler when I get it) for heal fights
Direwood for DPS fights
Ranged slot I keep my Action Figure.

With my group setup (troub and wizzy proc) and now that I am using infusion I am getting 1.8Kavg - 2Kmax when I just burn on trash or named, 1-1.5K on fights where I toss an outside heal now and then or light cures (mob depending), and no dps on mayongs / avatars.

I find Mixing and adorning various other items would increase my overall dps total but this setup I can get decent numbers even though its not the best it can be, at least with this setup I only have 1 slot to change and its effective for both dps'ing and stat/resists.

I tried hotbaring all the items and swaping them but it just took to much space, half the time i would forget what I had on etc...this way its simple and works ok.

After hours of trying to min/max my character for everything i realized its not working for me now I am happy just to balance my resists, stats, try to keep 2-3 proc items, 1-2 mana procs, and decent resists when I tried to min max gearing for 1 would totally throw off all other areas and the constant item swapping constantly made me say " DOH! wrong item grrr"


Widem balance for more DPS then most, I balance for stats resists more then most,neither is right or wrong you need to find what is gonna work for you.

But in the end I prefer the buckler proc over other ranged/sec item procs and i will probably never use 2 item procs here unless I want to go stupid maxed out dps for a parse contest or somethin...Im happy using only 1

also, i could see how the stats/resists on the pureblood buckler are slight upgrades to other options available to us but is that proc better than I think it is? assuming of course that you'd use it to prevent aoe all together, i'd bet it doesn't proc very often and even when it does i'd bet it wouldn't help much...

Why would I use the claymore item? in 3s I can bring my whole grp from red to green with 1 owls and 1 shriek, plus i have hibernation up all the time cause i use it in my infusion proc rotation.

The proc on the claymore is nice but here is my thinking. I have a set order in what i cast to heal grp is shriek, owls, out of grp its fray, elixir, salve. IF i do proc the bonus on a grp spell...big deal the 2 spells green my grp anyway so a boost here is just wasted.

If I am out of grp healing its usually the MT and +20% on our small heals isnt a big deal either...our healing advanage is in the speed and recasts not the heal amount and buy the time i cast those 3 spells the MT is green cause druid heals stabailized our MT enough so all the shamen templar heals have now landed and topped off the MT.

I would use the item if I was a MT healer...but im not...out of the tank groups I dont find it a benfit....I would rather have the assloads of resists and hp/pow.

Same with the pureblood buckler is has ALOT of resists.

I want to keep resists on the rare slots such as these...that way if I want to give up a normal resist item slot such as jewlery or a belt etc for a utility item or proc item which usaully have low resists on them. I wont loose alot. Now with the new loot in throne i may change a little...but that is basically my mindset.

Now for the pureblood buckler...i wont rob a MT or OT healer if they want it...its way better in those groups...but when it becomes available I will take it...I may run some heal parses to see just how much of a benifit the matron buckler saves me but until i get a pureblood im not gonna worry.

Now this is my setup and I balance my gear choices on personal survival base on experience. I dont get alot of resist buff in mage grp...i dont get to rely on other healers in grp to help green me, I dont get to rely on other cures or group cures from other healers. So I need to make sure when that AOE fires Im alive and i can eat a couple dot ticks while I save or cure the mages. I am also the only 1 in my raid who can solo run in on a AOE and spot heal with no fears and sometimes I do. My raid is use to me doing this if needed and they dont need to worry about me being 1 shotted cause my resists are so good. So my gear choices are setup this way based on the roles I play in my raid...other furys may have different roles and may need to gear differently. Currently I personally dont run TS Immunuity but with the changes in avatars I will be running some experiments to see how it works for me...and a buckler is a must for that so either choice is good imo.

after readin all the posts this week on the buckler, i was ecstatic to have it drop last nite. now i cant wait to do my own tests to see how much it adds to my own personal parses
