Soulfire Weapon choice

Im working on this quest and I was curious. Out of the Soulfire Hammer and Soulfire Staff, which weapon are most furies getting or think is best?

I seriously have debated getting the Staff especially now that it is a one-hander. I currently have the Mallet of the Seer, and Im not sure if I could give that up in most fights. If I was going pretty much strictly dps and my power was not a big issue, I would prolly use the staff though, it isnt that far off of Staff of Light in alot of ways. A 1.8 times a min group heal proc for 190 just doesnt make me all that excited for some reason.

Anyway, if anyone can give me insight on this I would appreciate it.

I am in a big raiding guild on Mistmoore btw, and we do kill avatars, contested etc.

This is my plan and my reasoning for doing so. Depending on your situation and what is realistic for whatver your guild does kill and what items you can get.

Soulfire Staff < Staff of Light in your post you fogot to mention how its just not the proc difference but you can get faster casting timers and higher up to which does a lot for some of our spells. If you can get a SoL do it if not this can be a viable option. I have a SoL already so this is out of the question for me.

Soulfire Hammer <=> Pris 2.0 < New hammer from Thex cant remember name!

I dont have that new hammer yet but its 3.0 times a minute to heal group for 250. If you can clear Thex castle this will probably be your hammer. I havent gotten to test it yet b/c sometimes procs lie, but i think that will be my healer item.

So. don don don....Im all for the gladius. The blades are by far more overpowered that the other rewards and this one in particular has 5% uncontested block...wowzers...and with the EH trials being broken it might come a little in handy. but ill never use the other 2 and this one i might so thats where my reward lies.

but remember it depends on what you have access to...in order of difficulty of getting certain items i think most furies will be thinking Staff first then Hammer then gladius.

Are the Fabled versions of these Ornate? I still use the Wand of Second Life most of the time but the Lucanic Staff with the spell crit adornment might be better?

Thanks Widem for you response. I want the Staff of Light and in reality, yes I have access to it. However, most people in my guild feel that it should go to all mages first, and after killing Flame however many times we have, it has dropped 1 time. So ya, I will be able to get it, I have the dkp for it for sure, but whether I wont be persecuted for getting it, that is another story. (Ive been told it should go to classes that dps full time as opposed to me who does a combo of both dps/healing)

Anyway, maybe I will just get the staff for now, Im just so undecided....

That other hammer, do you recall the name of it? Id like to look it up also

I am going for the staff, the hammer is nice, but i dont heal much in raids, and enjoy DPS lol... or i might just get the gladius to rebel against the norm.

Yeah the thing is with these hammers and heal procs...sure they have a heal and they actually do work ok but here is my issue. Normalized casting times of druid vs the proc chance = less proc then other healer classes. Not once have i ever said to myself wow look at that the hammer proc just saved someone from death, or wow my heal proc just did 20% of my heal parse.

These items are good statwise, but the procs just dont cut it in a raid enviroment. Now if it was a %proc to heal target for 1K hp....now that would be dam nice and actually useful in a raid enviroment.

So Pureblood Hammer and SoD Hammer garbage dont waste the time or dkp on em The ONLY time you should choose either of these is for the stats, HP, Power, Focus effects, never get a heal proc item just cause it procs a grp heal.

The staff as a 1 hdr is good sub for staff of light, the sword is nice for melee wardens or furys who want to play around but the delay isnt appealing to animal form users.

But thats just my opinion...

I concur, Slix. Proc heals (especially off of heals) are pretty worthless for me. Not only can us Furies heal a group to full pretty quick without them, but we are probably casting the same spells regardless, so the proc, even if it lands, is worthless.

I was probably going for the SOD staff, and then wait a while and get sloppy 3rd or 4ths on the throne group heal hammer. Still probably use godking for heal weapon depending on situation. Then lastly, use griz mace still for animal form.
