I think Slix's post is great and it's pretty much what I wish people knew about furies.
if it wouldn't make the other furies in my guild hate me, I'd copy it to our guild boards as good, informational reading.

Feel free to post it, or tell em to come read the thread. This is true for every class, learn to do your main role, once that is done you can work on other skills. I cant judge this low dps fury because i dont know that players mindset. Mabye she feels that her dps isnt enough to add anything meaningful to the raid and doesnt try because of that. I mean that is a valid reason for not dps'ing

However that said, on the TA fight, if she knows there is no heal issues, and just stands there doing nothing then yeah mabye this player should try to dps.

I mean KoS my parses topped 700dps, EoF I jumped upto a constant 1K if i worked a little, now with gear and experimentng with trash mobs Ive worked upto 1.5-2K single target while still using heals if I work hard. So if i didnt give a dam, was lazy then I would still be sitting at 700 dps tops.

I have my dps thanks to seiryu, if I didnt have him posting his numbers to me and poking little jokes at me i would of never been encouraged to try harder because 700 at that time was dam good for a healer. but in KoS he was doing 1K+

So what you do with this fury is upto your guild I would encourage her to experiment with dps, but if all she wants to do is be a buff/heal bot then mabye encourage her to betray to a warden or try a shamen out. Furys are the hybrid class of EQ2 and if she doesnt want to play her class to it ability then why not get her to play something that fits her mindset (so long as she doesnt forget about those heals)

Well, you know that person in your raid force thats rather...brash? Doesnt really have any couth and kind of pisses people off on a normal basis, thats me. That person in your raid force, multiply him by like 10 and you get me So for me to suggest it to her is a rather bad idea, however...I did show this to the guild leader and another one of the officers this thread and we did EH last night and they told her not to splash other groups, focus on her group, MT and watch the OT and when none of those people need heals DPS. She parsed ~600 ZW so that shows that she is actually trying alot more. Now if we can talk her into speccing INT line and putting more AA's into her damage spells maybe we will see here 1k+ Thanks for all your help guys, soon as I get my Swashy to 70 Ill be working on my 60 Fury, getting him raid level...I may be here again to steal you 1337 strats on how to DPS like a Wizard!

i agree w/wat slix is saying

i can understand being a fury that doesnt dps. if she is new to raiding she prolly has no idea wat she is capable of. if your comming out of running pick up instance groups, you prolly never thought about doing much more than healing. she is specd for healing, so even if she tried to only dps and not heal at all--i doubt she could get much over 500.

most raid guild theoretically reserve the right to change your AAs, so i would require her to go dps lines. if you have these zones on farm status, in a mage group she would be doing very little healing (mostly spot healing) this would explain her 98% power level after a fight.

if she specs dps and stops healing people in the green, she will start running out of power on trash mobs. put her in rotation for j/c and the illusionst buffs which i cant think of at the moment and when she starts seeing her name on the parse at over 1000k or in the top five, hopefully she will be motivated to push buttons faster. hopefully you will create a monster and she will realize her potential and run with it.

now with aa changes and the troub/illy buffs, if she still does not perform any dps then definetly evaluate her overall contribution, i thinkk you should be able to get her up to 1000+ easy.

crit pots have a 15min recast and a 10min duration...if u use a pot with jc on the recast is 10min thus being able to constantly have an xtra 4%heal/spell crit.

crit potions? good tip! stuff like this is why I love this board. gleaning little improvements like this has really driven me forward to improve my fury, and has me consistantly in the parse on trash/easy named. Spam cures and actually having to heal is priority when needed, of course, but every once in awhile I'll eclipse a dps class that wasn't pushing hard, or land top 3 parse spot, and it makes me feel like "Fuck yeah!" It's becoming an on-going joke that all I care about is DPS, but its good to feel like i'm a really useful asset... a healer when healers are crucial, and a dpser when dps is more beneficial.
