Default Thinking of coming back- Fury or Warden?

Posted this in Warden thread too, wanna get both sides views.

So basically, I've been a Warden for forever. I love the mix of heals and massive hammer strikes.

Just before I left, started leveling a fury by soloing group zones. It's lots of fun to me. I've always enjoyed doing it on healer classes especially. Well, I got fed up with all the pushback and dying trying to cast a Tbolt on my fury (though it's sexy when it goes through...), or waiting for dots to kill things while I heal like crazy in New Tunaria. (She's in her 50s.) So I betrayed to warden. Much smoother.

The thing is though, I know it gets better later on. Lots of AEs and stuff, especially that sexy beast on the right side of the prestige tree.

So what I'm asking is, should I betray to fury? I'll likely not be raiding much at all (which might even mean I shouldn't even come back from what I've seen), but I will be soloing fun stuff and grouping if possible. Is fury or warden better for that? Obviously play what I want blah blah... Which is better? I know warden used to have the advantage of forever power, but is that a problem anymore?

Also, tanking mercs are best usually, right? Which is the best one that I could get really easily at this level? Or do you have to be 90/95 for them?

I'm sorry for all the questions, I've just been gone awhile, (Pre-SF), and idk where to look anymore.

I have not posted on this thread for years but I am compelled to reply because I just came back on my fury and have switched classes multiple times since, so I will offer my opinion. My play style these days is solo farming and group pvp/bg. All my gear I farmed from the bg merchants. I have no experience in raiding this expansion so I cannot comment on the classes in that regard. I have been a long time fury. I rolled as a fury and leveled up and raided through SF as a fury, I loved the casting dps and big spike heals. Having said that I currently stick to being a warden. I went back and forth with same gear and A3 spells costing a lot of plat I should say, but at the end of the day I found warden to have the edge in both dps and heals. I am sure a lot of people will chime in saying the usual "it depends on how you want to play" and they will be correct, but for me I found it just to be easier to produce the numbers as a warden. I suspect furies can out do wardens with dps if you melee and cast well, but warden was easier. I am going to vote warden on this one. Best of luck.

I'm surprised you said that warden had better numbers DPS wise. I know they are better at healing, just look at all of our deathsaves... Good to know, I think what I'm going to do is betray the warden back to fury and level both my high level warden and the other one to max and use both, so I'll just know... This is gonna be fun. :P

Warden has an edge on heals/defensive abilities, fury imho has the edge on dps (melee/spell hybrid) I have one of each and have done soloing/groups/raiding on both and for pure solo/grouping they are both viable choices so just go with the one you find enjoy most.

Wardens win at single target and furies in aoe. Don't know after the new GU.

This would be what I remember from before I left, minus furies being a melee spell hybrid. Thinking I'm just going to go with both. I enjoy the druid play style very much anyways. Thanks for all the input.

With all that's been said, as a warden, do you have to melee to be as effective as a fury who ranges. I have a warden I 2 box with and one I want to group/raid with. Just not sure if it's effective to have a warden range attacks compared to a fury. I don't need to consider the single target vs aoe, just simply working the play style.

Warden spells alone= crap DPS. I know I can tell you that much. Biggest hitter that any melee oriented class has is his auto attack. Wardens need points in MA in the druid tree, CAs and melee endline in warden tree, litany of combat and the other MA boost in the Shadows tree, and a big hammer to swing, to do their best DPS. And that's really just the basics. I can tell you that when leveling, Inq warden mystic, in order of how many aas it takes to be decently good at melee at really low levels. I've found that I often to do more damage than anyone else in the group except for locks and SKs in ae in the 20s and 30s.

If you want a ranged casting DPS that heals, fury. Temp and defiler technically get range, but it's awful.

Thanks, trying to decide if I want do go back to fury since they heal/dps ranged.
