Default Mark of the Serpent

This evening, I had the pleasure of delving into ACT a little bit further then just parsing fights, and showing detrimentals on my screen, then informing the raid leader who had the curses.

I tried to figure out the exporting to ingame chat channels.

Here is what i got so far, and follow along if you have not done this because even this part works fine.

Detrimental: Mark of the Serpent
mob name: Thet-em-aua
Scroll to "any combat action"
trigger conditions: 4 players , or "1" second
export channel: TC JOCOK (this is the name of the custom channel in game, TC is for tell channel then a space, then jocok)
and the "export to only one line" function is on.
trigger sound: custom wav (then a personal ping)

now.... in the EQ2 game itself, i have created a macro which reads just like this...

/do_file_commands detriment.txt

ok, so, this works, but... if i want to tell the raid leader who has the detrimental of the curse on the snake, i have to hit the macro to do it. My question to you Sir, is there a way to have it automatically come up in the channel so they don't have to wait for me to push my Macro? those 2-3 seconds may be key , especially on Xythus Davian "Negative Flux" as well as the Venril Sathir fight.

I am looking for a way to set up the detrimental so that any combat action I decide to make, i can automatically have it post it in the raid or this custom channel. Is there a way for that to happen? thanks in advance for your help. I hope i provided you with enough info to reply.

not possible. act only reads from logfiles and writes to .txt files in the eq2 dir to be used via do_file_commands. everything else like saying something in game or whatever has to be done manually since injecting it into the network communication is against the EULA.

better idea for your examples: get the people in your raid to fucking watch the detrimental window and give them hell if they dont.

Of course it's programatically possible, but I'm not going to be the one to do it. The plugin is open source, so if you have the know-how, it's easy. But I'm not going to host such a modification myself.

Since so many people use ACT and SoE seems to trust me enough at the moment, I'm not going to publicly do something to ACT that's a basis of getting people banned. I'd rather SoE not even question my intentions for ACT. I've already had run-ins with making contraband UI mods.

Well, not me personally... but they "requested" that EQ2 Interface take down those related mods. They didn't bother talking to me at all, but I got the picture. Didn't stop me from making heavily scripted UI mods, but I did stop making ones that could affect combat.

ok, thanks for the input. So everything i was doing is as correct as it is going to get without violating any eula rules. I am an above board kind of Pally.

As I get more acquainted with the system, (still very new, barely the basics), I enjoy all it can do. I am curious how to get my ACT information posted on the guildportal. I think there is a box i can create, but haven't found it. So everyone who is not high school graduates at 35 years old can look and say " oh, wow, so that is what it looks like".
I need smarter friends

I haven't touched GuildPortal in years so I have no idea what they offer. Probably not ODBC/SQL exports as that requires custom pages to retrieve the data. ACT can generate somewhat advanced webpages based on JavaScript which can contain one or more encounters with as many tables/graphs as you want. You can right-click a table in the Main table for several export options ranging from plain text to HTML tables.

Their shoudl never be a delay on you hitting the macro key. Here is how I do it and within one second if it hitting..the cursed people are listed.

Lets look at the Thet fight.

1. YOu have your timers coming so you know when the curse is about to hit.
2. 2 seconds before it does put your cursor over the macro button
3. If you are lazy (like me) create a TTS that lets you know the curse has landed or look at your UI and see 4 people cursed.
4. Hit button

Should never ever be a delay in someone hitting the macro.

heres how we do it:

the whole raid watches its detrimental window. i announce whenever a new round of curses hit, one guy claims to go downstairs, the other 3 guys go take a bath (unless one of the 4 is the MT) and thats it. imo actually reading the chat about who's got the curse is far more distracting than simply watching the detrimental window which everyone has to get used to for TSO raiding anyways.

Even easier..Of the 4 cursed people.I call out one person to target..the other 3 people cursed target trough that person and all 4 beat on the same add then move to the next then the next..No issues..no chance of someone with slow DPS causing issues..
