I wouldn't say *I* go apeshit over them. I just don't allow them to be set unless there is a good reason. And I clean the sumbitches up every once in a while.

So let me get this straight, instead of blocking any sort of outbound traffic with a firewall, you sit there with a packet sniffer for a day after you install anythinng new or update any existing programs on your computer? I call bullshit on that, and even if you did try to do it, I still don't think you'd have a clue what all is being sent out.

Like I said, I don't use anything that I'm not sure of. I can't think of a single application or patch that I've ever installed on production machines that hasn't gone through testing first.

I know what everything on my machines does, and I don't need to be counterproductive having to whitelist every single thing that wants to use external resources.
