The class is inherently easy, as are most other classes. As someone said earlier, the mechanics of the game itself are simple. All it takes is a little reading of the spell descriptions, and pow, you can probably play any class. Perhaps not instantly as well as the person that originally plays the class, or if the other person sucked, you can play it better than them.

All in all, no class is inherently difficult.

i agree, i just don't understand why assassin was being singled out as being so much easier to play.

one thing is for sure. the hardest classes to play right now are healers.

Anyone can play a class, but to play it well, or great makes it going from just pushing buttons, to knowing exactly what your going to do before the time even comes, and why your doing it that way.

agree! ppl think the pet doing all this dmg for us means we have to do less, it is the opposite imo.

As a conjuror we have to do the work for the pet to do the dps, but technically most of our dps does come from the pet. Its not as simple as /pet attack though since we have to use abilities such as EV properly, etc.

Personally, I think that SoE has actively been trying to make this game, and all the classes in it, easier to play. I don't know how many of you remember eq1, but the amount of time invested to even ding the level cap set hardcore and casual players apart. In this game, you can ding your alt 40 in 5 minutes of play time (collections, etc). Every class in this game takes more of your attention to play than any in eq1, because of having multiple abilities, but every class in this game is easy enough to play if you have a decent grasp of game mechanics. I've played every role in a raid and nothing is superbly difficult at all, some roles just require more of your attention than others.

The same can be said for comparing the differences between a good player and a bad one. A bad conjuror, for instance, can just hit pet attack and go download some porn. A good conjuror actually pays attention the entire fight.

WoW was a pretty successful game and, in my opinion, getting kids to transfer from WoW to EQ2 is the main reason SoE has tried to make this game easier to play.

Saying any class is "difficult" either tells me that you are younger than 16 years old, or have the IQ equivelant of a bowl of popcorn.

We can put pet auto-attack/auto-cast on the back burner for now.

Nobody really has any upset towards necros on account of how easy or hard the class is; all players being of equal skill and ass-busting-ness, what does piss people off is how much of the raid can be at 5-10% power at the end of a long named encounter whereas the necro is at 90-95% and has a 100K damage lead on the #2 player in the parse. This lopsidedness is going to manifest aggression in any possible opportunity, and if not as ease-of-class accusations, then as something else.

The devs keep their head in the sand to this day, not having done jack shit about it. We thought the big correction was coming, and look at how that fizzled out.

Which is a big part of why I'm levelling up a necro alt; I need firsthand experience and numbers to add weight behind my conclusions. If it turns out I was wrong, I can accept that... but my driving anticipation is convincing me otherwise.

This is barely a degree away from just as easily describing sorcerors and enchanters.

Illuminator, when you get up to that level it will be difficult to test, as your Necromancer won't be geared/mastered etc out like your Wizard is.

Whether its the rate that we consume power through spell power costs, or how 'average' our power cost is, and how many spells per-minute we go through, we use power more than most.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, take Archlich down and watch how fast your out-of-power. Its faster than you could ever go OOP on your Wizard.

I'm not saying that this is 'working' because obvoiusly thats messed up, and thats exactly how it is, The lowest I go on fights aside from power drain fights is 90%, and thats chain casting.

Is Archlich&Lich that overpowered in comparison to other level 50 spells?

The thing is, acquiring the masters isn't remotely as difficult as it was two tiers ago... my wizard has them all and my coercer is only lacking two (level 35's don't count :P). And most necros I've raided with have had only a fraction of the high-end proc gear that I myself have.

I will not disagree on this; at level 38 I'm almost dry after fighting a non-heroic blue group and I don't expect it to improve dramatically before 50.

That's one of the questions that needs to be asked, and my preliminary guess would be a yes.
