Default Pondering on new main

Since I started playing eq2.. I have played Guardian till around lu10.. then Bruiser up till a few months ago. I havent played since then. I am wanting to play a dps class. but not one that is so overdone that no raiding guild would recruit it. Looking for opinions on dps classes most raiding guilds wouldnt mind having. reason I ask, is that I plan to start playing again. And dont wanna be a waste of space in raids.. if a raiding guild would ever accept a brawler.. seems most raiding guilds have 1 active brawler and dont want another :p

opinions plz!

i guess this mainly depends on the server, but where i am from, brigands are always on popular demand ^_^ but then again, i played on station exchange for a long while and turnaround of members there is just rediculous. As far as I've seen, assassins can put out some insane dps if the person behind the toon knows what they are doing as well. Not sure about the other servers, but those two would be my suggestion.

DPS classes that raid guilds want? Unfortunately, there's not often one single class everyone is looking for - but there are some classes that are simply more common and thus less desirable.

1. No fighters. Most top guilds have enough fighters.
2. No sorcerers, plenty of sorcerers around on most servers, and in their current state they have problems/disadvantages compared to other dps classes.
3. No rangers. For some reason there are usually too many of these, although many I knew quit from frustration with their class.

So you're left with a choice between: Assassin, Brigand, Conjuror, Necromancer, Swashbuckler. Look around at your server or at a guild you are interested in and perhaps figure it out from there. Keep in mind, things may change with the expansion, though.

I would personally avoid summoners as they were FOTM for way too long, so there are way too many of them and your masters will be horribly expensive. Assassin Brig or swashy are your best bet, but poison dependent to a degree.

I'd say Brigand. But of course like they say you should check what's going on for your server first.

I think the idea of picking your class based on weather or not you can find a spot in a raid is dumb as fuck. Why not try to pick your class on your play style?
summoners, sorcerers, predators, rouge... all have different playstyle, just because one class do more dmg doesnt mean you would like to play it. Rangers/assassins are a bitch to play, brigands suck ass on aoe fight, necro have to cast constantly, conjurors have to do alot of prep right before the fight..... IMO you should take these things in consideration before picking a class. Fearing of nerf bat isnt the way to go, trust me.
