The existence of most lifetime achievement awards usually pre-date the achievements at issue. Even though they are awarded for what has been done, most, even including awards like the Nobel Prize, exist during the time that people do the acts leading to the award.
Thus, most lifetime achievement awards are not ex-post facto in nature. There are not simply an additional benefit given for what has already been done, since people can work toward them from the beginning.
More than two years after the launch of EQ2, I disagree with giving people a reward for choosing a particular path in game from the many different paths available. That is just rewarding people who were lucky enough to make a certain choice.
I only have about 500 quests done. If I knew there would be a special reward for doing 2500 quests, I would have done that rather than wasted so much time on crafting. But I picked wrong, so why should one activity in game be chosen over another to recieve such an award?
Seriously, if they are going to give a reward for a high amount of quests done, I also want a reward for # of epic x4 raid mob kills, and also for having 5 level 70 crafters.
