Default Halloween and Frostfell Live Events - Unnecessary?

One of the reasons I play Everquest 2 is to take a dip into the fictional world of Norrath and suspend my disbelief for a bit. The "Fantasy" part of EQ2 is what attracts me to it. But lo and behold when these stupid fucking Halloween and Christmas live events roll around. Pumpkins, snow, elves and candy canes...etc

I understand it's in the "spirit of things", but this is fucking Norrath, and if I want to experience these festivities I'll go round people houses begging for candies and deliver my own presents to underserving kids down their chimneys.

I guess I just wish dev time was better spent with other constructive things like more live events that revolve around the Gods returning than this pap. No doubt some people love this stuff, but I felt it was worthy of a flame.

What is everyone else opinions on this kind of stuff, do you believe it has a place in EQ2, and do you take part in them, or think they are unnecessary crud too?

I like 'em. I think they're festive and community-oriented. But I can understand how am immersion role player might have issues with them.

The nightblood mask is freaking awesome! I gotta do more trick-or-treating.

I love these events, but I don't RP, so that aspect really doesn't bother me. Yes, I get all the masks, I got all the music boxes last year, and I had the snowglobe (I don't play on that server anymore, but the character and stuff is still there).

It's a nice change in the game...I like them...would be nice if they could cover the cities with snow one year...

That'd be neat. My Sage still has a stack of snowballs on her from last year!

I pretty much only log in to raid, at least until EoF.

I was wondering why all the npc's had monster heads and such.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Bah sorry my post was slightly mis-leading. I don't RP, I log in to raid (as LFG said) but I just find the inclusion of RL Earth-orientated events unneccessary in a Fantasy game about a world that has nothing to do with this.

What's next, in-game Labor Day? Bank Holidays? Could be Ironforge National Holiday or somesuch, all instances locked so we can spend time at in our houses? How about fix bugs, re-balance Tier 1 DPS, and for god's sakes make sure EOF gets out finished. KThx.
