This thread isn't complete until we also conjugate the verb "to be".

Cold War

Re: Was/Is I wrong.....?
If you felt your guild couldn't do what you wanted it to, and couldn't get them into doing what you wanted them to do. Then yes, you made the right choice. Sure you may hurt some people's feelings by leaving, but you just have to do it. Only those who were really your "friends" would understand. This is coming from experience, I've left 2 guilds now, both for similar reasons.

Re: Was/Is I wrong.....?
Kinda a 2-edged sword really: On the one hand, you're already involved in a fairly high-end guild that atleast stands a chance at contested (apparently), and on the other, is the guild that's mostly BEATING you to said contested.
It comes down to a matter of preference; the guild winning the contested is likely more disciplined to be able to beat you to those mobs (or, your guild simply isn't well equipped enough to take down those encounters). And with the discipline also comes higher standards/requirements as far as raiding/playstyle. That type of environment isn't for everyone. Casuals aren't going to be beating real-raiders to contested any time soon.
Read some posts about people getting kicked b/c they couldn't make 5 raids a week; HUGE difference between that, and a guild that may not even require your presence at the raid. Without knowing you or your guild(s) involved, all I can say is good luck, and if you handled it tactfully, you'll usually be welcomed back; just don't be lame and run back to an old guild when/if they steamroll you in the next expansion.

to me it isnt that black and white.
my guild dont lock down contesteds but i still hate when ppl bring up the fact that we pay the same cuz i doesnt come down to that, its about who is showing up first to the contested and tries to bring it down.
i want my share of contesteds but im not entitled to it if i dont do a damn good effort in showing up before the other guilds

same, It's not that black and white at all, infact i don't see the need to break it down into a boolean statement in the first place.
it's almost like claiming that on the subject of religion that people are either christian, or atheist.
but anyway... at the end of the day EQ2 is a game. Real people play this game but that doesn't mean your forced to do what they want or expect of you.
doesn't sound like you called your old guild a bunch of wankers and then promptly fucked off, so all i can really say is you didn't do the "wrong" thing.
I can certainly understand the frustration of close competition with another guild on a server over contested.
