True enough, Unless you lied to all of them cause you dont have the balls to say whats on your mind. If thats the case then you suck and were wrong.

I am curious as to who this person is though and what server/guild they are/were from

if your desicion, felt like it was best for you then it was, if your not happy with that guild then your not going to be the best player you can be further more your discomfort would have spread and made the guild worst off..

You can be direct and still be tactful about it. "You guys are great & I've enjoyed my time with you, but I need more out of the game" works much better than an excuse that they see through, or people find out later was bogus.
Couldn't agree more - As a guild leader I've seen my fair share of people leaving for other guilds who wanted to achieve more than we were.

I have remained friends with, and maintained respect for those who were honest with us - who told us they wanted more than we could give.

The ones I still have trouble even sparing a civil word to, are the ones who pulled stunts like claiming illnes to get out of our raid, and then going off and raiding with another guild they were looking to join. Or the ones who swore blind they were committed to our guild and were not thinking of leaving - right up until 2 hours before they left to join another guild.

What's that saying about not crapping on people on your way up the ladder, coz you never know when your success/happiness may be in the hands of those people in the future? So true.....

The question is are you playing the game for friendship or enjoyment, or do you want to be the best. I had to make the same decision a long time ago when i start playing the game. There is really no right and wrong decision, you can enjoy the game either way. It's all up to you. Be careful though, if you decided to go the "hardcore" path, be prepare to treat the game like a full time job. If you want to lockdown contested, you have to camp them, 24/7.

QFE.

You shouldn't be so sucked into the game, that you believe leaving may have some dire consequences on everyone else. This isn't a war, blind loyalty isn't required to your guild mates. Especially if it comes at your expense. I've seen a lot of truely great players leave for other guilds, or simply quit because they're no longer interested in EQ2.

Some members will take it personal when someone leaves, no matter the reason, because they feel they're betraying the guild. When in actuality they would be betraying themselves by trying to stay. If someone leaves guild I say my goodbyes, and think nothing of it. It's their choice how they wish to spend their money, especially when your talking about raiding, and the massive time commitment involved.
