Frist i like to start by saing this is not a shot at or trying to place anyone one down with this thread. Just want to know if i'm out of line or if i'm not.

I been on EQ2 for about 2yrs now and love it. Its gets better as it grows (for me anyhow). I had my share of bad guilds and some great ones. But i think its safe to say EQ2 (as far as raids) is all about the guild.....(right)? I was in a guild were all of the peeps where great at what they do and knew there shit as far as mobs/strats and so on. Anyhow its come down to 2 guild in the sever to have all contested on locked but for some reson we could never get the raid on contested so we would lose some (most) to the next guild. So everyone would be like good game there will be another time. But not I wanted it all i guess u can call me greedy or w/e. i wanted them all and on lock down so i moved on i didn't say much to my old guild but that i was goin to move on ( they may or may not know who i am).

Im not goin to get much more in to this cause i don't want to start any beef with them or my new guild. But would like to know if I did the right as far as move on or should have i sucked it up and play and it as it goes. this is were u guys (EQ2ers) in come. I know how hard u guys can be on someone so be eazy on I'm still new to this shit. Just want to know was/is i wrong?

The rules of Pragmaticism state that you should always do what's best for you, but you must maintain tact and poise while doing such of course!

As long as you didn't burn any bridges and can maintain a friendly relationship with said other guild which will enable you to go back if something ever does go wrong it's a win win situation!

It's a game, but regardless of that people are going to get angry you "betrayed" them, just make sure those people don't have any control over your ability to get into another guild, and if so fix it~

If you do something right, people won't be sure you did anything at all

If you separated most EQ2 players into just two categories, you would get:

1. Those who prefer survival of the fittest rules. It is this group of people that has all the contested on lockdown.

2. Those who believe they are entitled to a share of contested, since they pay the same amount as group #1.

To me, group #1 is somewhere between Republicans and Libertarians, and group #2 are more like hippies and socialists.

Obviously you must have a twinge of guilt to even be asking.

For me, guilds are home and my guildmates are my friends. When I made the decision to leave Aggro Fish *sobs* I did so with much thought, respect, and consideration for my pals. I would NEVER have left them for lame ass reasoning such as yours, but different things are important to different people.

I spose if you don't give two dick shakes for your guildmates then no love lost. If you actually cared about your guild and you bailed when they needed you to stick around then yeah, you suck.

You can always make new friends in new guilds and if people don't talk to you after you left they weren't your friend anyways. You gotta play for yourself and do what makes you happy and fuck the rest.

This genre can be horribly fickle. You gotta take MMO friendships with a grain of salt, unless they were already IRL [in person] friends before you started. Someone that places the condition of friendship on your guild tag isn't your friend.

If you have goals in game you want to attain, then go for it or find different goals. Most people in high-end guilds did not start there; they progressed through lower tier guilds with differing levels of gaming commitment until they ended up where they are. Some work up to the top guild and end up having thier raiding itch 'scratched' and move back down to a guild that is less hardcore.

Remember, you are paying for this game. If there are things you want to accomplish that you have not, you need to do whatever it takes to do it. You cannot allow yourself to be guilted into staying in a guild situation that is not satisfying your gaming needs and desires. The people in the game that are really your friends will still be your friends and still talk to you. You'll probably find that the few dozen people you thought were your friends are actually just a handful in reality.

If you wanna play the game at a higher level than your current guildmates, GO FOR IT. You'll just feel regret later if you don't.
