Re: Account Sharing
Is'nt account sharing a violation of the EULA...man if they ban for violating one section such as third party programs why not ban for that part to.
i mean bam its right there rule number 1.
1. Accounts are available only to adults or, in their discretion, their minor child. If you are a minor, your parent(s) or guardian(s) must complete the registration process, in which case they will take full responsibility for all obligations under this Agreement. By clicking the "I Accept" button and providing us with a credit card number, you represent that you are an adult and are accepting this Agreement either on behalf of yourself or your child. You may not transfer or share your Account with anyone, except that if you are a parent or guardian, you may permit one child to use the Account instead of you (in which case you may not use that Account). You are solely responsible and liable for all activities conducted through the Account and for the security of your computer system, and parents or guardians are liable for the activities of their child. Corporations and other entities are not eligible to procure Accounts.

I think that is talking about having multiple chars played by different people. Not borrowing somebody's toon to do something. I could be wrong, but if I am they should be more specific becuz otherwise why would they warn you against giving out your password becuz their not responsible for what others do to your toon?

Yes its against the EULA. But sheesh, no one is forcing you to share your account info, but it sure is funny when people do things to other peoples chars (as long as its harmless things like burning both calls before leaving them in the middle of no where nekkid.

It's got a couple reasons behind it. First, if people share accounts, they are losing sub money. That's not something they want obviously. Second, they don't want their already busy and very competent CS staff to have mediate disputes between people sharing accounts.
I honestly don't see the intelligence in giving someone your account info. I can only think of one or maybe two people that I'd trust that with.

Re: Account Sharing
Well I just mean funny how they ban people for using certain 3rd party programs because it 'violates' the EULA but not anyone that violated the first Number 1 EULA Agrement, account sharing. a bunch of hypocritcal Bullshit.
Why does EQ2 suck? Well I guess it is because Sony quit asking how they can improve there products and sticks with how can we make more money.
I mean guys seriously wtf is the point in expansions for a MMO? you pay a monthly subscription already? I mean uh most things you pay a membership fee for you get updates for free...
Correct me if im wrong but wasn't it Verants intent originaly to release new content gradually and over time? As far as i can tell sony came along and had a genious idea! hey lets bundle these zones together release them all at once and call it an Xpac! cause guys guys! Xpac = more money!

It's SOE's rules and they can pretty much choose to enforce what they want. You ever had a cop just give you a warning for speeding? *shrug*
The point of an expansion is to generate revenue for the company.
You are comparing a company that was on the cutting edge of MMO's to development trends now. They must have seen the inherent development costs, and potential revenue, and went the opposite route. If you compare it to a normal game, and weigh in your cost vs played time factor it's still not even close.
I figured it up...I've spent about $495 on EQ2 over 2 years. Now my played time is showing about 2,179 hours. At roughly $0.23 an hour, I find it hard to complain about the costs. I'm not saying you shouldn't, that's just me.
Something like CoD2 which I may put 20 hours into the single game? For $50? That comes up to about $0.40 an hour.

You are putting a third party "bot" program in the same sentence as account sharing? Your an idiot !! People who have a third party program do that to profit from the game. People who account share are helping there guild. Two different things but yes they both violate the EULA but which one do you really think is worst?

Re: Account Sharing
In both cases banning requires a preponderance of proof. And since SoE does't use spyware on our systems, busting bots is as hard as busting people sharing accounts.
